From the best eyeliners on the market to the most comfortable walking shoes you can slip your feet into, it’s all part of our duty to bring you the G.O.A.T.s [that’s Greatest Of All Time, as the kids like to call ’em these days] of all-things fashion and beauty. Today, we’re rounding up the winners from our most popular product comparison posts, right here in one spot. We broke it down into two categories: Best of Fashion and Best of Beauty. Below, you’ll find a links to all the comparison posts, followed by the winner winner chicken dinner of each category. Without further ado, let’s introduce the best of LIY. Drumroll please!
Best of Fashion

White T-Shirt Comparison
- Amazon Daily Ritual Tee [size up one]: This top isn’t sheer and we were happy with both the fit and quality! It does have a tighter, more clingy fit with a spandex type of feel. But it is super soft, and feels silky smooth. It’s a great [and budget-friendly] closet staple that I find myself turning to over and over again.
-
Layering Cami Review
- Express Downtown Cami [size down if in between]: While it doesn’t have adjustable straps like most of the others we tried, it is fully lined making it not sheer at all and it does have a pretty silky, almost dressy material and look to it. I love that it has a double V in the front and back [should you decide to wear it alone] and the length for me at 5’4 is perfect. I will add that I have owned this cami for years and have had excellent luck with holding up well with wear. Overall, I don’t think you can go wrong with this one!
-
Best Black Jeans
- Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution Skinny Ankle Jeans [size down one]: I don’t know if I’ve ever worn a more comfortable pair of black jeans. Their ab-solution waistband [also read: elastic] makes them so comfy and makes me want to reach for them every time I go to wear black jeans.
-
Best White Jeans
- Erin’s Favorite: Kut from the Kloth Connie [Size 2, size down if in between]: While we tested several great pairs in the initial comparison post, there’s a new favorite white jean in town this season.
- Steph’s Favorite: Liverpool Penny Ankle Skinny Jeans [Size 8, size down one]: There was really no sheerness, they had enough stretch to be pretty mobile, and we know that the quality of Liverpool jeans is fantastic, like these! Plus, these have real pockets- you’d be surprised how rare that is with white jeans!
-
Best Black Work Pants
- Erin’s Favorites: WHBM Comfort Stretch Slim Ankle Pants [Size 2, Regular Length]: When they call them comfort stretch they aren’t kidding! This pair seriously felt like you could do lunges in them [yes, we tried], and hit at a great place for high rise! They’re a bit more of a straight leg fit, but still cropped which made them more flattering!
- Steph’s Favorites: Loft Slim Pencil Pant [Size 10, Petite Length]: These are more of a straight fit all the way down rather than fitted/tighter. They have a little bit of stretch to them, but nothing overwhelming. The waist did a great job of really holding you in without feeling like you’re going to burst of out of them
-
Classic Black Pump Comparison
- Sam Edelman Hazel [size up .5]: I was so excited that my tried and true favorites for years came in first place after stacking them up against the competition. I truly haven’t found a more comfortable pair of pumps. Not only are they great for all day wear [I wore these almost every day when I worked outside of the home] they have such a classic style and visual appeal. You can get them in both black suede or leather- I love both!
-
Most Comfortable Slip-On Sneakers
- Dr. Scholl’s Madison Slip-On Sneaker [TTS]: These sneakers did not disappoint in any arena. In fact, all 3 of us who tested the shoe noted that we all found them to the most comfortable for all day wear. That Dr. Scholl sure knew what he was doing when designing these.
-
Most Comfortable Walking Shoe
- allbirds Tree Runner [size down for half sizes]: These sneakers were made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do. This was a brand that nobody on the the team had tried prior to this blog post comparison; however, we were hearing the rave reviews from our Tribe loud and proud so we knew we had to give them a shot. It turns out, they did not disappoint!
-
Best No-Show Socks
- For Sneakers & Athletic-Wear: Stance Women’s Sensible: I couldn’t get over how much I loved these socks. They are incredibly comfortable and they stayed on SO well during the day. While you do have to be careful on which shoes you can wear with them, they are an awesome sock I’d highly recommend!
- For Flats & Workwear: Peds Ultra Low Sport: These checked all of the boxes. They didn’t slip, didn’t show in my flats and were comfortable for all day wear! I would highly recommend these for when you’re wearing flats or slip-ons!
-
Athletic Leggings
- Nike One Luxe Tight [TTS]: They stayed in place, they’re super breathable, not sheer at all, and just overall a great pair of athletic leggings!
- “Save” Option: Core 10 [TTS]: If you’re not looking to spend as much, but still want a FANTASTIC pair, I cannot recommend this pair enough!
-
Casual Leggings
- Athleta Salutation Tight in Powervita [TTS]: Our best, overall, favorite, hands down, never taking ‘em off legging is… the Athleta Salutation Tight in Powervita. These leggings are amazing. Hands down, these leggings make your butt look the best, and are crazy smoothing [aka hiding all rumps and bumps!] The quality of Athleta leggings [and honestly, all Athleta items] is outstanding, so you know you’re going to have a great pairs that lasts with these. ps These would be great for both casual-wear or a good workout.
- “Save” Option: Colorfulkoala Buttery Soft Legging [TTS]: We couldn’t just give the award to Athleta though, because a] those are not in everyone’s price point and b] these are a SERIOUSLY close second. So we went with two winners! Our favorite budget friendly pair is the Colorfulkoala [say that three times fast] Buttery Soft High Waisted Yoga Pants Full-Length Leggings.

Dry Shampoo Guide
- Oribe Gold Lust: Oribe was the overall team favorite! All of our team members that have oily hair reported good oil absorption with this product and would use it again. Not to mention it smells ahh-mazing.
-
Hair Dryer Review
- Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer: Ugh. We were mad that this was our favorite too. We had heard great things about this Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer but goodness, for the price, it better be pretty freaking amazing. We decided to try it because a) we were SO curious if it is really as good as people claim it to be and b) to prove to ourselves that no blow dryer is worth spending that much money on. The only problem? We loved it.
-
Best Makeup Setting Sprays
- Urban Decay Cosmetics All Nighter: I use this regularly and it has never let me down! It works so well I had a hard time figuring out which was my morning photo vs my evening photo while testing! Definitely worth every dollar and will last forever!
-
Best Under-Eye Concealer
- Tarte Shape Tape Concealer: Coming in at first place is Tarte’s Shape Tape. After comparing it with other brands, it’s obvious why this concealer is a favorite all around. It ranked highly for each skin type!
- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Treatment Concealer [Favorite Drugstore Option]: This ended up being fairly comparable to the Tarte Shape Tape with a budget-friendly price tag. While it may require an additional layer for the fullest coverage, it did seem to put up a fight in the creasing and longevity categories.
-
Makeup Primer by Skin Type
- For all Skin Types: Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer — If your skin type is somewhere in the middle [not overly dry, not overly oily] we’re guessing you won’t be disappointed with this one.
- For Oily Skin: Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer — “I was so pleased with the results of this primer! Having oily skin makes it impossible to keep makeup on all day, but this comes pretty dang close!” -Cassidy
- For Dry Skin: Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer — “This one was great! Friends even said my face looked “dewy” which has never been a word to describe my desert-dry skin before! Definitely more hydrating than other primers, I am a fan!” -Becca

Mascara Review [Waterproof + Non-Waterproof]
- Lancome Monsieur Big [Waterproof]: Whoa. They’re not joking when they say Monsieur BIG! This made my lashes look huge! After one coat they were more noticeable, but nothing to knock my socks off. After two and then three coats they were huge!
- Benefit Cosmetics BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara [Non-Waterproof]: Since my initial testing within the post, there’s a new Sheriff in town. We tried so many great options, but this is the one I continue to reach for in my makeup bag!
-
The Best Pencil Eyeliners [Waterproof + Non-Waterproof]
- MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner [Waterproof]: “This one came out of left field for me! I’m new to Marc Jacobs beauty products and was blown away by this liner. It went on the smoothest overall and lasted all day with minimal smudging. After testing all the other brands, I keep finding myself turning to this one in my makeup bag. It’s here to stay.” -Claire
- FENTY BEAUTY BY RIHANNA Flypencil Longwear Pencil Eyeliner [Non-Waterproof]: I was so excited to try this brand as I’ve heard great things! The application was so easy and the longevity was awesome! I didn’t have any smudging and know that this is the eyeliner I’ll keep reaching for from here on out!
And there you have it, folks! The very best of LIY. Do you own any of these tried & true favorites? Be sure to let us know of any products you’d like to see reviewed in the future below and thanks for stopping by!
