7 Outdoor Patio Plans for Every Style

April 29, 2022

Team LIY

The second we see the first robin chirping and daffodil popping through the ground, we’re heading straight outside for cocktails on the back deck and books on the front porch swing. Don’t mind the fact that we might be wearing sweatshirts and Ugg boots because it’s actually still freezing. But man, that sun! It’ll do things to ya after a long cold Indiana winter! Including having us shopping for allllll the outdoor patio items we can find and dreaming up our perfect setup. With several ladies on the LIY Team, several unique styles, and well, several unique outdoor setups, we we thought it would be fun to share our virtual patio ideas with you all and maybe spur some creativity with your own outdoor setup! Pour yourself a nice cold glass of something tropical, and get comfy, because it’s time for a little outdoor makeover.

Erin’s Virtual Patio

Chaise Lounger // Outdoor Pillows // Poolside Pillow / Lanterns

I am beyond excited to have a pool again soon – with the house being built in Florida comes a chance to lounge in the sun with a cold cocktail in hand [or better yet, floating in the water], and I can’t wait! With that project in the works, I have been searching the internet for what I want around the pool [who knew so many loungers existed?] and have thankfully started to piece some things together! First up, in the water pool loungers for the sun shelf – how fun will this umbrella be inbetween the two? For around the pool, I love the look of these chaise loungers with the rope detail to give it a slight nautical vibe! Throw on some fun pillows and the space is nearly complete!

This year I’m on a mission to make my front entry as cozy as possible! Step one – Add a porch swing and top with pillows ASAP! I have such fond memories of watching the after work traffic go by on my grandparent’s porch as a young child, and the thought of relaxing on a porch with my kids makes me so happy. I also love having a front porch full of fresh blooms, and these pots make it even more inviting. I recently added this rug to my actual front porch and love the way it looks! Get me a fresh mug of coffee and I’m ready to kick back and greet each day! PS – See my previous virtual outdoor space makeovers here and here (this one is basically what my actual back porch ended up looking like!). .

Patio Dining Table

If you saw last year’s virtual patio makeover post you won’t be surprised to see that my color scheme is almost the exact same lol What can I say, this style and these colors are what I’m clearly drawn to most! Dreaming of the day our outdoor eating area looks like this! I love mixing metals, materials and colors to create a more modern boho feel that’s clean but also timeless! I’m in love with this rug and need these wicker chairs ASAP! I love that it’s the perfect mix of cozy, sleek and welcoming!

Outdoor Rug

It’s officially that time of year again – time to make ourselves a little outdoor oasis! I love having multiple seating areas with coordinating looks, so whether we’re hosting a group or just having a quick “the-kids-are-in-bed-backyard-datenight,” we have great spaces for it! I love the look of this dining table set and how it has a coordinating seating area. Add in a solo stove [the smokeless feature of these makes them a HOT seller], a fresh herb garden for cocktails or cookin’, and we’ve got ourselves the backyard oasis of my dreams!

Outdoor Rug // Firepit

An outdoor space is my happy place ☀️ If the sun is shining I want to be soaking up the great outdoors! We moved into our first house at the end of last Summer and I loved being able to hang and grill out in the evenings. I am looking forward to A LOT more of that as the weather warms up! I am actually in the process of shopping for all of the patio items, so I am hoping to make this virtual patio a reality! This set is so pretty and for under $400 I am ready to hit checkout! I think string lights add a great vibe and ambiance to an outdoor space. Fill this cup with something fun mixed up at the bar, call up a girlfriend to hang on these cute chairs, and you’re ready for a resort retreat right at home!

Outdoor Rug / Patio Umbrella / Outdoor Pillows

I am all about making things simple and cozy around our house…even outdoors. I could totally see myself cozying up on this love seat next to this cute little chiminea and taking a long nap. Or sipping a cocktail on these rocking chairs with my feet kicked up on this ottoman next to my husband. (hurry up summer!!) Add these fun pillows and I am cozied out! We have lights similar to these on our back patio now and I turn them on any chance I get in the summer. I also love having several planters full of pretty blooms and of course citronella plants to keep those pesky mosquitoes away.

As a renter, my patio options are somewhat limited. If you know, you know! Regardless, I’m a firm believer that you can still make a small space both fun and functional. It was a blast putting together my “dream patio” virtually, and I’m even making my porch dreams a reality [kinda ;)] with a few of the smaller accessories to spice up my space. Brand spankin’ new pillow covers go a longgg way [pro tip: covers are SO much cheaper than buying new pillows every year!]. And while plants don’t typically last long on my watch, I can’t stop, won’t stop purchasing the prettiest planters. Here’s to porch-sitting season!
