Amazon Basics: The Brand That Has It All

January 18, 2021

Erin Schrader

Have you heard of the Amazon Basics brand? Allow me to introduce you! Amazon Basics is from none other than, you guessed it, AMAZON! One deep dive into the brand page and you’ll quickly realize they offer everything from ibuprofen to gel pens to hammers to suitcases. The list is seriously extensive, and covers a ton of categories on items you keep in [and around] your home, at a lower price than you might find elsewhere! And while we fully intended this blog post to be a full list of hits and misses, we had zero misses sooo here we are with a whole bunch of things we loved from the Amazon Basics line! So next time you need new batteries or a kitchen gadget refresh, consider checking Amazon Basics first!

Erin’s Carafe With Lid

Carafe [set of 2] // Lemon Table Runner

Hi, welcome to adulthood Erin. There’s something about a carafe that makes you feel like you’ve graduated into real life. I mostly purchased these because I had big dreams about creating a beautiful refrigerator scene [think all things Home Edit] by pouring our beverages into them and lining them up, however, our refrigerator shelves aren’t high enough [dun, dun, dun]. The good news is that I still absolutely loved these and will use them when serving guests in the future. The best part? They are shatterproof, durable, simple, and cute!

Erin’s Highball Glasses

Highball Glasses [set of 4]

Speaking of shatterproof, meet Shawn and I’s new favorite drinking glasses. These babies are a very durable plastic that doesn’t feel cheap and has clean, simple lines. They are dishwasher safe and enjoyable to drink out of. Need I say more? I didn’t think so either…

Erin’s Slim Velvet Hangers

Velvet Hangers [Pack of 100]

Once you go slimline hangers, you never go back. If you are looking for a quick way to add a ton of your space to your closet, buy these. Not only do they take up less room than those bulky plastic hangers, but your clothes will also actually stay on these hangers and you don’t be battling slippery shoulders every time you go to get dressed or put laundry away. I buy these frequently [note to self: slow your roll on clothes shopping] and they haven’t let me down. A closet must!

Erin’s AA Batteries

AA Batteries [Pack of 48] // Battery Organizer

Shawn is the battery purchaser in this household, but I noticed he went with Amazon Basics for his brand of choice, and well, I really just wanted to inform you that if you’re looking for batteries, these are a great price that does the job. I also wanted to inform you that nothing will make you feel like you have your life more together than organizing your batteries. This case is an organizer’s dream!

Erin’s Silicone Baking Sheet

Silicone Baking Sheet [set of 2]

I love these so much I gifted them at a Favorite Things Party this winter! These silicone baking sheets are one of our most used kitchen tools as we use them anytime we stick nearly anything in the oven. Gone are the days of aluminum foil [bye bye waste & aluminum ingredients] because these non-stick sheets do everything you needed your foil to do. Whether we’re baking veggies, chicken, potatoes, etc we simply line our baking pans with these and then stick it in the dishwasher when we’re done, and voila, a clean silicone sheet to use next time we bake! Another huge benefit: no oil needed meaning you’ll save calories along the way!

Erin’s Paper Shredder

Paper Shredder

Technically speaking, this is Shawn’s paper shredder but it’s in our household so I thought I’d include it in this roundup! It cross-cuts all papers making them tiny and hard for any trash diving detective to piece together and shreds up to 12 sheets at a time [we have the 12 sheet paper shredder but as you’ll see there are more options available]! It works like a champ and is a great home office item to have on hand! Almost 100,000 reviews can’t be wrong – it’s a good one!

Erin’s Foam Interlocking Gym Floor Mats

Interlocking Gym Floor Mats [pack of 6]

If you’ve found yourself turning to your home gym to get your sweat on over the past year, these floor mats are for you! They are super simple to assemble as they interlock with one another. Not only will they protect your floors from all of your heavy gym equipment, but they are also water resistant [that sweat will wipe right up], and reduces noise from your machines as you are using them. We love these and I think your home gym will too!

Lauren’s Rolling Metal Shelf

Amazon Basics Metal 5-Shelf Shelving Storage Unit on Wheels

Attention Costco Shoppers! If you’ve got the space these racks are a game changer! We have a few of these racks in our basement [from Ikea, Lowes, and The Home Depot], and wanted to test out the Amazon Basics brand because the pricing was even less than Ikea AND it had over 30,000 positive reviews! So far so good! Easy assembly, love that it’s on wheels, seems to hold a lot of weight, and priced right! Definitely a hit for our house!

Lauren’s 12-Piece Tritan Plastic Cup Set

Amazon Basics 12-Piece Tritan Glass Drinkware Set

If it’s warm enough, you can pretty much find us outdoors in one way, shape or form. This, combined with two little kiddos means we’re using our breakable items much less, and using shatterproof options a lot more! I love that this set has a texture to it, and the quality so far seems great! Dishwasher safe, and comes with 6 highball and 6 old fashioned size glasses! Highly recommend for patio season!

Claire’s 6-Foot Phone Charger

AmazonBasics Nylon Braided 6 ft. iPhone Charger [Rose Gold]

If you own an iPhone, you’re probably well aware that purchasing a replacement charger is pretty much inevitable at some point in time. This 6 ft. charger is gold, pure gold [rose gold, that is 😉 ] baby. Most standard iPhone chargers [you know, the free ones that come with the phone] are 3 feet long. This one is double the length and double the cute. It’s long enough to scroll comfortably in bed or on the couch while charging and the braided nylon makes it extra durable. AmazonBasics for the win [again]!

Claire’s Cotton Bath Towels

AmazonBasics 100% Cotton Bath Towels

We recently tested and reviewed these AmazonBasics Bath Towels as part of our LIY Tested + Reviewed: Bath Towel Edition post. With over 18,000+ positive reviews, it’s no surprise they were deemed a hit among the LIY Team! At about $20 for a set of two, these snuggly wonders were a budget-friendly fav. They’re super soft [seriously, one of the softest brands we took for a whirl] and hold up well in the wash! Not bad Amazon, not bad at all.

Katy’s Yoga Mat

Amazon Basics 1/2-Inch Extra Thick Exercise Yoga Mat

I live in an apartment with concrete floors, so a thin mat just doesn’t do the trick to protect my knees and wrists. This one has enough cushion to make my workouts comfortable (well, as comfortable as a workout can be). If you like a traditional yoga mat this may not be for you, but if you are looking for a mat that is versatile for any type of exercise I highly recommend trying this one out!

Katy’s Hardside Spinner Suitcase

Amazon Basics Hardside Carry-On Spinner Suitcase Luggage  – 21 Inch

I’ve always dreamed of having a spinner suitcase, I feel like all the cool kids in movies have them and it makes travel seem so easy  – anyone else? I’m not giving myself false hope that this one will always give me 100% stress free travel, but I do think it’ll put my mind at ease having a hard case suitcase that’s great quality! This 21” in is definitely on the smaller side, but great to use for a quick trip carry on or weekender bag. There’s also 2 piece, 3 piece, 26”, and 30” available in 3 other colors!

Cassidy’s Extension Cord

Amazon Basic Extension Cord

I don’t know about you, but it feels like I constantly need an extension cord at my house… Why do I always need them and why do I never have them on hand? The world will never know. But now I am feeling prepared for whatever electronics come my way! This worked wonderfully for setting up our Nintendo Switch to our projector!

Cassidy’s Nintendo Switch Case

Amazon Basic Nintendo Switch Case

2020 was the year of the Nintendo Switch and you better believe we jumped on that train! So of course, we neeeeeded to get a case for our Nintendo! I really love this hard shell case. It fits everything perfectly and has an abundance of space. I feel like it will actually protect our Nintendo Switch and it gives me a way to store it away if needed! Plus, I couldn’t beat the price!

Cassidy’s iPhone Charging Cords

Amazon Basics iPhone Cords

I feel like I don’t have to explain this one? In my household we always seem to be one iPhone cord short… not sure how but it happens. So now we are fully prepared and feel ready to continue to constantly misplace our iPhone cords 🙂

Steph’s 5-Tier Open Bookcase

I wasn’t joking when I said I’m completing our basement one Amazon purchase at a time. And the proof is right here! I needed something to help fill the space next to our tv in our new family room and here she is! This 5-Tier Open Bookcase! I also ordered this Rae Dunn Clock and these Picture Frames to give the space a homey feel, and raided the decorations closet for some more items to fill the shelves. We used these Wooden Rounds as table decorations for our daughter’s open house, and I’m glad to give them another purpose in our home. These Faux Plants seem to surround me as I have a set at home and in my office. Now to get some pictures printed to complete the space….
