Every year, Pantone selects a color and deems it the “color of the year.” This year, Pantone announced not one, but TWO colors of the year: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating [a bright yellow, believe it or not]– fitting, right? Pantone stated the combo is “A marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting…” something I think we can all get on board with this year. Am I right or am I right? While we’re not suggesting you paint every room in your home Illuminating Yellow [if you do, can I come over?], we are suggesting a few simple ways to incorporate the uplifting hues into your wardrobe, home, and life in 2021.

Introducing Ultimate Gray! While I personally love all 50 shades of gray 😉 , this one was lucky enough to be deemed color of the year. I know what you’re probably thinking, “What’s so ultimate about gray”? I have to admit, Ultimate Gray didn’t immediately get my blood pumping and heart racing quite like Illuminating Yellow, but hold tight. Nothing gets you jazzed about a new color addition to your wardrobe quite like putting it on your body. Flashback to my monochromatic phase circa 2019 [Example A and Example B]. Two years later and my love for all-things monochrome is still running deep. There’s something so chic about layering the same shade in an outfit– not to mention easy and fun. And while I’ve been naming yellow color of the year for years, neutrals are still my jam. But move over black, white, and camel. There’s a new kid on the block.. and it’s name is Ultimate Gray.

Or if you’re anything like me, you’ve been allowing yellow to bring you joy since before it was cool.
