Fall Family Photos
It’s a question we receive constantly at LIY – “What in the world should we wear for family photos!?” As Becca put it last year, family photos can be a headache. You shuffle the schedule 13 times and finally find a one hour time slot where none of your kids have soccer practice or piano lessons, your hubby’s favorite baseball team doesn’t have a “super important” game, you don’t have book club and This is Us is not on tv — only to have to reschedule with your photographer because of inclement weather. And after you have found a new date, made sure everyone in the fam is free, the last thing you really want to think about is what in the world the entire family is going to wear in these photos that you are going to hang on your wall for 10 years and will be sending to everyone and their mother in the form of a Christmas card.
Yikes, we get it. Because it’s such a trouble point for so many of us, we took this problem into our own hands and are offering [many] solutions! In today’s post we have compiled 5 different color schemes for you to choose from — and not only that, but we have provided our own little photos of the LIY team and their adorable families in these color schemes along with additional clothing choices for EVERY member of your family [look for the arrows for even more options!] Hopefully, this will help take a little bit of the guesswork out of family photos so that you can focus on more important things, like what kind of candy would best bribe your toddler to actually smile in the photos. Let’s dive in and see these frame makers…
This color scheme is almost monochromatic and is an easy color for anyone to pull off! Try mixing dark green, medium green and ivory! Additionally, if you too are expecting this fall season – be sure to checkout these adorable maternity options for your photos!
For a color scheme that will blend in well with your home decor [remember, you are probably hanging this on your living room wall] give neutrals like brown, camel and grey a try! Hannah’s family looked absolutely adorable pulling off this look.
Hope you found some inspiration from the color schemes above! What color scheme are you using for your family photos? If you use any of the above, please send us pictures — we would LOVE to see them!
Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
As the leaves are starting to change from greens to reds, that can only mean one thing [aside from football season] – campfire season! Lauren here from the LIY Team! I can be found sipping wine around the campfire on any given Saturday night this time of year, and while we’re sipping we’re snacking too […]
Our favorite pastime? Sniffing all the candles! Okay okay, maybe it’s not our favorite pastime, but boy do we sure love finding the perfect scents! After giving TONS of candles, oils, and diffusers a whirl, we’ve narrowed down our favorites, just in time for cozy days this fall! As much as I wish this screen […]
If there’s one thing the LIY Team did this Summer [besides go for boat rides and drink seltzers] – it was read. Audio books, Kindle editions, good old fashion physical copies… you name it, we read it. While we went through a few that weren’t so great, we did find a few worth passing along! […]
