I’ll be the first to admit that I am not the trendiest when it comes to dressing myself. I’m always about a year late to catch on to what’s hot [I blame living in Indiana for that one] and don’t really ever care a whole lot about what’s considered the next best thing. There’s probably a reason why I haven’t attended #NYFW because I’d be that kid walking around with what [never] made it on the runway three years ago. If an item meets the following criteria, I am sold: a) cute b) comfortable c) reasonably priced.
What I’m learning these days is that you can actually check off all three of those boxes while including d) trendy. As we’ve been studying the latest and greatest for our cozy collection [more on this later!] there have been a few trends that have stuck out to us in a big way that we can stand behind and don’t leave me feeling like a fashion fraud. Today I thought I’d share three easy to rock pattern trends that you’ll be seeing everywhere this fall season [and bonus – they are all included in Lord & Taylor’s BIGGEST sale of the Season which means up to 30% off women and men’s apparel PLUS 40% off women’s shoes from now until September 25th!] Lord & Taylor is an awesome retailer to shop thanks to their always free shipping over $99 [only $49 when a beauty product is added to cart] along with their ability to shop online and pick up in store. Anytime you have the opportunity to shop PJ style, I highly recommend it. Alright, let’s jump into the fall 2018 fashion trends that I’m loving!
Caara Nikola Oversized Sweater [size down, wearing in XS] // Spanx Faux Leather Shaping Leggings [size up, wearing in small]
// Sam Edelman Jordy Animal Print Calf Hair Smoking Slippers [true to size]
This has to be the pattern I am loving MOST right now. There is just something so fierce yet feminine to animal print in my eyes. I always feel a tad bit sexier when I’m rocking it and it is truly my new favorite neutral. If you’ve been following along on Facebook, I’m sure you’ve seen me incorporate animal print on more than one occasion [warning: it’s verging on nearly every occasion]. Whether you do small doses of it in your shoes, handbags, earrings or go full throttle by rocking an entire animal print dress or blazer, it’s bound to look amazing when done right. Cheetah, Leopard, I don’t care – just give me anything that will make me “meow” a little louder 😉
Classic prints are making a huge comeback this fall. From classic plaid, to houndstooth and herringbone. All of these trends offer a much preppier, polished look and I can’t say I hate it. It’s not always a bad thing to feel a little more sophisticated on the outside than you feel inside [does anybody else ever feel like they will always have the maturity level of a 16-year-old?] When I spotted this dress I knew it could be a perfect option for the workplace or fall wedding.
Chaus Graceful Blooms Floral Smocked-Sleeve Blouse [true to size, wearing in small] // Spanx Faux Leather Shaping Leggings [size up, wearing in small] // Lucky Brand Powe Kid Suede Booties [true to size]
This is a surprising trend to me for fall, as florals you typically associate with spring and summer. Apparently all things roses, daisies and peonies wanted the attention to stay on them well after their stems die. Well played florals, well played. Florals are such a feminine look that make any outfit just a tad bit more softer and flirty. Again, you can do this in small or large doses. This floral top was the perfect option to incorporate the trend in a very non-aggressive way.
Lucky Brand Powe Kid Suede Booties [true to size]
I’d love to hear which trend[s] you are most excited for this fall and plan on wearing day in/day out? Don’t forget to take advantage of the huge Lord & Taylor’s sale and stock up on some goodies while they are marked down!
