We’re officially here — fall. Not only does it feel like it in the air here in Indiana, but the calendar has now confirmed that the season so many of us anxiously await every year is truly here. Goodbye, all things summer, and hello all things pumpkin spice and everything nice. While we’re not 100% ready to throw in the towel quite yet [literally, my wetsuit just arrived today to be able to continue on with our wake surfing activities despite the water temps plunging] we are gearing up to head back to life at the cabin in the next several weeks and get snuggled up for the cooler months ahead. Some may think of it as hibernation, I think of it as excessive coffee or tea drinking while cuddled up around an outdoor fire taking in the beauty of leaves changing around us and s’mores [with the peanut butter cup of course] on repeat.
If you too are excited to ditch the shorts and get cozy in a new sweater, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve got a real special place in my heart for cozy sweaters and pants that rhyme with beggings [for those of you who are rhythmically challenged I’m referring to leggings]. Another special thing in my heart? Backcountry, the premium outdoor & lifestyle retailer based out of Park City, Utah that carries the best outdoor brands and products– from Arc’teryx, Patagonia, Fjallraven, Free People, and more. They’ve literally got you covered for every season and every activity under the sun. While my current cardio consists of changing outfits, they are sure to please in any fun adventures you’re tackling this fall and winter. And shoot – if you simply want to shop fall fashion [we’re all here for that, let’s be real] they have the c-u-t-e-s-t new arrivals that will have you beaming like the lit up jack-o-lantern on your front porch step in no time! And as if that isn’t reason enough to get your shop on, the Backcountry Winter Clearance Sale is happening right now: September 23 through October 11 with savings up to 60% off top brands like Helly Hansen, FlyLow, Smith, and Salomon. Be sure to use code YELLOW15 for 15% off full-priced items on your first order at Backcountry.com [exclusions apply!]
Now, my easy as 1-2-3 fall trend guide..
- The oversized [and crazy cozy] sweater with leggings look.
Why I love it: well, for starters, have we ever not loved anything that’s cozy and oversized? Exactly. It’s all sorts of comfortable while remaining trendy enough to go out in. I love that you can pair it with leggings for a super casual look or throw this sweater on with jeans and booties [add a cute little hat while you’re at it] and you’re ready to stroll through whatever winery comes your way…

2. The summer dress + layered cardigan outfit.
Why I love it: Anytime you can incorporate a tried & true summer piece into your fall wardrobe rotation, it’s a win. Insert this dress. Yes, you can play tennis in it and yes you can wear it as a swimsuit cover-up and YES, you can also wear it for a date night. Basically, it does it all. Top her off with this lightweight marled cardigan and you just extended the wearability time by a few more months. Magic, really. Also magic — these sandals. No, but really, wear them.

3. The best basics for layering or rocking alone.
Why I love it: I’m 100% convinced that you can never have too many legging friendly long-sleeve [softer than soft] tops for fall and winter. Whether you wear ’em as-is like I am here, layer it under a cozy cardigan or rock it beneath your go-to puffer vest, these are key for any fall wardrobe. Just add a great pair of leggings and easy to walk in shoes and you’re ready to roll [or at least galivant around].
