Making Masks F-U-N

August 25, 2020

Erin Schrader

Disclosure: Thank you to Old Navy & ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post. All products were selected, purchased and loved by yours truly.

If there’s a fashion accessory we never saw coming, it has to be the oh-so-famous face masks [and no, not the kind you slather on your face, wait 10 minutes and rinse off]. If you would have told me I’d be more invested in what pattern is on my mask than what earrings I’m wearing in 2020 I would have looked at you like you were insane. But here we are – bragging about where our cute masks are from.

Insert my love for Old Navy face masks. I’ve been turning to them for months now to step up my style game when it comes to looking cute while playing it safe. They are high-quality, breathable, super comfortable, washable and made according to the CDC’s recommendation for non-medical grade masks. Plus, they come in convenient multi-packs (since we’re wearing our masks everywhere these days), and they have sizes for kids AND adults! Add to that how affordable they are (5-Pack for $12.50!) and you really have something to smize about.

Now that we’re wearing ’em, let’s talk about how to make ’em fashion. For me, it’s all about the fun colors and patterns. Whether you’re in the mood to be matchy-matchy or want a pop of fun spread across your face, there’s an option for that. Bye bye boring disposables, we’ve got a new kid in town.

Yellow Stripes & Everything Nice

Variety 10-Pack of Triple-Layer Cloth Face Masks for Adults // Luxe V-Neck Tee for Women [true to size, wearing in small] // Distressed Jean Jacket for Women [true to size, wearing in small] // High-Waisted Garment-Dyed Jogger Pants [true to size, wearing in small] // Canvas Slip-Ons [true to size]

It should be no surprise that I gravitated towards yellow [this blog didn’t get its name by coincidence]. Yellow = happy and while we can’t show our smiles these days, we can show colors that emulate a smile. Pair ’em with a good ole pair of joggers and you’ve got one happy [comfortable] camper right here folks.

Leopard Lovers

Variety 10-Pack of Triple-Layer Cloth Face Masks for Adults // Linen-Blend Blazer [true to size, wearing in small] // Flutter-Sleeve V-Neck Top [true to size, wearing in small] // Mid-Rise Light-Wash Power Slim Straight Jeans [true to size] // Faux-Suede High-Heel Sandals [true to size]

Meow. I’ll take my animal print anywhere I can get it. Is there such a thing as too much leopard? I think not. I love this take on prints for the office [why not make a statement while on the clock] with the addition of this relaxed blazer and a great pair of Power Slim straight leg jeans.

Pattern Play

Variety 10-Pack of Triple-Layer Cloth Face Masks for Adults // Split-Neck Popover Blouse [true to size, wearing in small] // Mid-Rise Light-Wash Power Slim Straight Jeans [true to size] // Faux-Suede High-Heel Sandals [true to size]

Whoever said pattern mixing isn’t cool clearly hasn’t ever mixed stripes with leopard before. Another fun look for the office [I love this top for work or play]. Don’t be afraid to play around with different patterns to make a statement.

Proof that masks can be fun [and look cute] in your daily life. Whether you’re traveling, hitting up your local grocery store or staying safe at work be sure to check out Old Navy for their awesome face masks. Your face just got so much more fun.
