LIY Team Try On: Good American Edition

July 27, 2020

By:

Erin Schrader

Another month, another LIY Team Try-On session. August is quickly approaching and that can only mean one thing: new denim season. There’s just something about autumn that makes me oh-so ready to slip into a new pair of jeans. And when it comes to denim, we decided to hit up one of the greats [or should I say, Goods? ;)] — Good American. Chances are, you’ve probably heard of this brand before. They’re all about body positivity, sizing inclusivity, high quality pieces, and giving back. All things we can get down with. You can learn more about all of that good stuff here. If it’s your first time shopping Good American, you should know the jeans do run on the “spend” side. However, I’m a firm believer that a great pair of denim is an investment piece and at this price point you should get many wears year after year instead of replacing them each season. For months [if not years] we’ve been hearing from Y-O-U, our community, about just how great Good American denim really is. So naturally, Team LIY took it upon ourselves to put on pants and bring you a full a review. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. So without further ado, it’s time for another LIY Team Try-On: Good American edition.

ps. if you can’t get enough of us, you’ll find more LIY Team Try-On seshes here.

Bodysuit [true to size, wearing in small] // Good American Good Legs Jeans [size up if in between] // Vince Camuto Leera Wedges [true to size]

This was my first time trying a pair of Good American Jeans and when I spotted this option in their Good Legs line, I had to try. I’m so glad I did. The minute I opened them out of the package I could feel just how insanely soft and comfortable they were. I put them on and instantly felt like my legs looked longer [and maybe slightly leaner – a girl can hope anyhow ;)]. I love the amount of distressing on these as it’s not too much but also definitely enough to give them the right amount of edge. For me at 5’4 they were a good length but they would be perfect if you’re taller and want a cropped look. I highly recommend this pair and will be purchasing more from this line!

Bodysuit [true to size, wearing in small] // Good American Good Legs Jeans Crop [on sale! size up if in between] // Vince Camuto Leera Wedges [true to size]

I decided to try not just one pair of Good American Jeans, but two. I’m a sucker for a great pair of white jeans so when I saw these [on sale!] I quickly added to my cart. I love that they are cropped which work great for my 5’4 height. They are incredibly comfortable and nice and high waisted just like my other pair. I did notice a little bit of pink showing through from my bodysuit so I don’t feel comfortable saying they are completely non-sheer but it wasn’t enough to make me feel uncomfortable wearing them. They do give a little booty lift which I can always appreciate. All I know is that this whole Good Legs line is a line I’ll keep shopping!

Loving the snakeskin trend, and when I spotted these pants, I knew I had to “add to cart”! I am 6’ tall, and Good American doesn’t come in long, but I found a 29” inseam pant that I paired with a strappy sandal to help fill the length void. The stretch in these pants is amazing, and thank goodness, because I found they run about 2 sizes too small! I wear a size 8, and I bought a size 10, but definitely could of purchased a size 12 for a much more comfortable fit. Have you jumped on the animal print bandwagon yet?

I’ve tried A LOT of different brands, types and stretches of jeans and had yet to find a pair I loved…. They either stretched out halfway through the day, the inseam was WAY off or I was constantly pulling them up throughout the day! Well, friends these jeans live up to every rave review and more! They are the most comfortable jeans on, don’t stretch out, flattering and make that waistline look GOOD! While the price is a little high on these, they are definitely a great investment piece that will last!

Jeans [TTS, wearing in 10] // Tank [Size down if between, wearing in M] / Long sleeve version // Sam Edelman Hazel Pumps [TTS] // Jacket [Sold out, but I haven’t met a Liverpool jacket I didn’t like, size down]

I’ve owned and very well loved my Good American Good Legs jeans for quite some time now, so when it was time to pick a new Good American pair, trying out their white denim was pretty much a no brainer! Lucky for my short legs, this white pair comes cropped as well! White jeans can be a little tricky, but these weren’t see through and I felt totally comfortable and covered.

Jeans [TTS, wearing in 2] // Tee [TTS, wearing in XS] // Sport Sandals [TTS]

As a pear shaped lady, I often have trouble finding jeans that fit well around the hip and waist. If jeans fit through the hip, they are too big in the waist; or if they fit in the waist, good luck getting them over my hips! These jeans are super stretchy and fit nicely in both the hip and waist — I see why they call them “Good Waist”, they certainly live up to their name! They must have some sort of smoothing technology, and it holds me in in all the right places! They feel like they will hold up well, and I am truly impressed!

Good Legs [ TTS, wearing in 2] // White Sandals [TTS, wearing an 8] // Off the Shoulder Top [similar]

I’ve always hated shopping for jeans. Let me repeat that. It always seems hard to find the perfect pair that makes you feel confident or that you’re not pulling and tugging on throughout the day.  These jeans fit like a dream! They are comfortable and hug all the right places (they are called “Good Legs” for a reason)! They are stretchy, but don’t stretch out so much that by the end of the day they need a wash for them to fit the next time you wear them! THANK YOU, GOOD AMERICAN! The only issue I had with them is that they were a bit long on me. They do state in the fit details that the inseam is 29” and I am 5’4” with an inseam of 26-27”, so if you are on the shorter side you may want to find a pair with a shorter inseam! I don’t mind a cuff sometimes, especially when I love the jeans this much! I will definitely be reaching for these

Good Waist [Size down if in between, wearing size 0] // Similar Shoes // Similar Top

Okay I know these jeans are called good waist but I am LOVING the way they make my legs look! I am only 5’4, but I have never felt taller! Ha! But seriously, I am loving these jeans, the waist, the legs, the stretch, all of it. I once saw a quote that said “well these are my standing jeans, not my sitting down jeans” and let me tell you, these jeans are BOTH! Stretchy and comfy enough to sit down but hold their shape when you stand back up!

Good Legs [TTS, wearing 6 in Black600] // Non-Distressed Version //  Similar Bodysuit // Heels [TTS]

Two words: MAGIC JEANS. Two more words: BUY THEM. This is my first pair of Good American denim and I fell in love the moment I slipped into ’em. They have all the “suck-in” power of shape-wear, while feeling as comfortable and stretchy as leggings. I love a little distressing in my black denim for the fall and while they are on the spend side, the material is soft and feels very high quality! [ps. off to get a pedi ;)]
