Why Wyoming? This place is heaven on earth. I truly think it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been!! Out West is so wild and mesmerizing. While outdoor activities are huge here if that’s not your cup of tea – not to worry! You can still drive around to see the beautiful scenery and enjoy the magic that is Jackson Hole.
Grand Teton National Park:
This is the star of the show (in my opinion). The first time I saw this mountain range it took my breath away. There are some INCREDIBLE hikes here, ranging in all difficulties. This guide will help you with where to start and show you the most popular hiking trails. One hike we did was over 26 miles…tears were almost shed, but it was well worth the journey.
Even if you’re not into hiking, you can enjoy the beautiful view! The Jackson Lake Lodge is a great place to stay located on Jackson Lake with a prime view of the Grand Teton. This lodge is a bit on the pricey side, but you can always stop by to grab a meal, walk around the lobby or the lake!
Downtown Jackson Hole:
Downtown Jackson Hole looks like it was picked out of a Hallmark movie. There are tons of cute shops, outdoor stores so you can snag a pair of hiking boots (this is what I had to do haha!), and great restaurants! Cowboy Coffee is a fun place to stop in for a latte! Also, if you’re looking for a true, western, honky tonk giddy on up to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
Skiing and Snowboarding:
I’m not a skier, but this is some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the world! If you love it – this is the place to do it! Even if you’d like to give it a try, book a lesson and hit the slopes. Guide to Jackson Hole Skiing and Snowboarding
Restaurants:
I actually didn’t go out to eat hardly at all when I visited, but this guide should help you decide where you’d like to enjoy a meal! I will say, the Mangy Moose is a MUST. They have great food, live music, and Sloshies (an alcoholic slushie & Jackson Hole staple).
Yellowstone National Park:
Yellowstone is spread over three states: Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. The Wyoming side is about one hour from Jackson Hole! This park is MASSIVE and you could spend a whole trip strictly dedicated to just Yellowstone. (NOTE: Read this Ultimate Travel Guide to Yellowstone written by an LIY Community member here! It’s truly such a great resource!)
However, if you’re in Jackson Hole I do think it’s worth a day trip if you’ve never been! You can plan the sights you would like to see on your own or book a tour. My must sees are: Grand Prismatic Spring, Old Faithful Geyser, Lamar Valley, and Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. There are SO many more amazing sights listed here.
