Well, if you’d asked us a month ago if we’d be shopping Amazon more we’d probably have responded “eh, about the same.” Little did we know what was to come, and that almost 100% of our shopping would become online shopping! Now that we’re all safely working from home for a few weeks[ish], we’re sharing a few items that are keeping us busy! We may or may not love that we can now do hair masks and foot masks throughout the work day 😉 What are you buying from Amazon lately? Are you sticking to the essentials or finding a few fun things as well?
With extra time at home, I’ve been looking for ways to spend a little bit of time on myself doing things that I don’t normally take the time to do. Insert this hydrating hair mask. I noticed it was one of Amazon’s best selling items and for under $13, I knew it was worth a try. The reviews don’t lie – this hair mask packs a big punch. And the best news? It doesn’t actually take much time at all. I simply use shampoo in the shower, rinse and then try to ring my hair out as much as possible. Then I slather some of this hair mask on my hair by running my fingers through my hair to get it covered throughout and then wait around 7 minutes to rinse. During that 7 minutes is a great time to shave [another task that could easily subside during the quarantine season we’re in ;)] The end result: smooth, soft, smell-good hair that feels and looks amazing.
Spring is a time for lightweight jackets, which is one of my favorite pieces to wear! A good jacket really completes an outfit, and the great thing is that since it’s a sheddable layer, you really can wear it year round! I love this olive green moto jacket! The color is interesting enough to set it apart, but also neutral enough to pair with just about anything in my closet. And of course a good pair of black jeans is another closet staple! This pair is the perfect high waist that comes all the way up to my belly button with just the tiniest bit of distressing on the edges of the pockets. I love everything The Drop has to offer, and these are no exception. I will be exchanging for a different size, so make sure to size down if you are in between sizes!
Steph’s Home Office
Desk // Chair [Sanctuary Blue] // Desk Writing Pad // Desk Organizer // Wall Mount for Lamp // Pendant Lamp // Daylight Edison Bulbs // Printer Stand // Wire Organizing Rack // Hanging Folders // File Folders // Divided Tray // Paper Shredder // Trash Can
One of the many things that has changed over the past few weeks is a sudden need for my husband and I to rotate working from a quiet work space separated from where all of the action is taking place in our house. The day he found out he would be working from home, I quickly hopped on Amazon and ordered everything we needed for the at home office we have been talking about for months, but haven’t gotten around to setting up. This is the same desk I have at the LIY HQ, just in a different color. I’ve loved using it so much, it was an easy decision when looking for one at home. I also cannot say enough good things about this Serta desk chair. A little on the pricier side, but my back and booty agree it’s worth every extra penny!
This brownie pan made all of my brownie dreams come true!! When I found out one of our reader’s husbands created this pan, I had to try it!! I am a huge fan of the corners of the brownie pan and this one gives you those crispy edges in every perfect square!! We used a box mix, added some chocolate chips and placed it in the pan and 25ish mins later they were the BEST brownies we ever had! I always seem to burn them in normal pans and these were cooked to perfection and still had a soft/gooey portion for my husband and kiddos!! It was also super easy to clean, came with a spatula, fun recipes and the non stick really worked!! If you love brownies, highly recommend you try this, you won’t be sorry!!
If you love waffle knit, this one’s for you! I’ve been wearing this top for a few weeks now and it’s such an easy [and comfortable] closet go-to. While I’m not crazy about the off-the-shoulder look [totally personal preference] it can be worn both ways! Word of advice: if you DON’T plan on wearing it off the shoulder, go down a size because it’s roomy! Wearing in medium, but could have done a small.
The Drop Western Vegan Leather Booties [Size down half size]
I have been on the search for white booties EVERYWHERE! I have been seeing white booties styled with everything lately and I am totally buying into the trend! I wanted to find a pair that wasn’t made of real leather for personal reasons which made it extremely difficult to hunt down! Finally, I stumbled upon these cuties! The downside… I can’t leave the house to show them off! Until that day, I am dreaming up all the outfits I can style with them!
Let me introduce you to my new BFF, this ultrasonic jewelry cleaner! I didn’t realize how dirty my wedding ring was [the before and after pics didn’t do it justice]. In a quick 90 seconds, my ring looked shiny and new, free of dirt, grime, lotion, and whatever else was in there. Simply put 1 cup of water in with ½ lid full of the jewelry cleaning solution, push on, and let the ultrasonic magic do it’s work! I’ve only tried it on my ring, but reviews also tell me that people have had luck with costume/fashion jewelry as well, and even glasses [although that one’s not recommended from the manufacturer].
Walking dog harness [our pups are around 18 pounds and wear in size large]
If you’re anything like me, your dog walking time has drastically increased over the past two weeks and if I’m a betting woman, will only continue to increase over the next several months as well. If you have small dogs you may have experienced the choking / coughing that can happen by having a leash constantly pulling on your pups neck. This harness alleviates all of that. You simply velcro the harness on and then attach your leash of choice and you’re off, on a walk that both you and your dogs will love and enjoy! Max and Ollie tested and approved.
So here’s the deal. We’re all stuck at home for an indefinite amount of time. So I thought, what better time to learn all about how to make our time at home super cozy?! Enter this book, all about the Danish tradition called Hygge [pronounced hoo-ga]. It’s a super trending topic right now, and I was pumped to start reading this cute little book with tips on creating “cozy togetherness” that I can start implementing with my little family while we are quarantined in our home! I don’t want to give it away, but so far it’s been a super enjoyable read! Pick one up for yourself and get to creating some coziness all around you to make the best out of this slower paced time at home with the ones you love!
This top was such a pleasant surprise! Normally as a chestier girl, button ups are scary and pull in all the wrong places. I am so happy to say I’ve found a top that does pull, but also isn’t so oversized that it looks like I’m hiding in a trash bag. Shorts are definitely not something I love shopping for, and rarely like new pairs outside of my tried and true favorites. Goodthreads coming through once again! These shorts are my favorite length (4 inches), and form fitting without feeling like my thighs are bursting out like sausages from a casing.
Working from home, I live in my slippers and fuzzy socks throughout the day. While I had high hopes for these slipper socks [on the hunt for a good Ugg dupe] they didn’t exceed my expectations by any means. I have and LOVE the famous Tribe favorite Ugg Fleece Lined Socks and there’s just something to be said about their quality and comfort level. Worth every penny. With that being said, who doesn’t love fuzzy socks of all makes and models? Plus they have grippers– something the Ugg socks lack. If you’re looking for a “save” version, these might be it, but they would also make a great gift for anyone needing a little bit of cozy in their lives [or on their feet].
Cassidy’s Tie Dye Set
Raise your hand if you have noticed tie dye making a comeback! I am HERE for it! I have been living in this lounge set since the quarantine has been in effect! I love wearing these pieces as a set because hello comfort and cuteness, but I also wanted to show how I have been lounging in them separately! I just can’t get enough of it! This fleece sweatshirt and these fleece joggers are probably my new favorite things, but I realized that this tie dye also comes in a fleece short, so I WILL be adding them to cart ASAP!
Welcome to the dress I’m going to be wearing on repeat all Spring and Summer long [and also wearing it in black, because I’m going back for this version]. Erin has had this dress for a long time and now I understand why! Bump [and not bump] friendly, lightweight, can be tied up or left as is [I’m 5’6”], and can even be worn as a coverup! Will I take it off before bed tonight? That’s one secret I’ll never tell…
With summer on the horizon I’ve been on the hunt for denim shorts that I actually love [always a bit of a challenge]. When I spotted these from one of my favorite Amazon brands, The Drop, I knew I wanted to try. I’m so glad I did – they are a tad bit shorter than most I own [slightly under 3 inch inseam] yet they don’t feel too short and I love the slight distressing going on! Shorts season, I’m ready for you.
All this hand washing is making my hands cracked, wrinkly and oh so parched! I know I am not alone in this! Never fear, I have a solution that will give your hands the relief you’re longing for! These hand and foot masks by Aveeno are so moisturizing! I don’t know if you all have tried hand or foot masks before, but, girlfriend they are life changing! Basically they are a pair of gloves and booties filled with rich moisturizing lotion. I pop them on when I am relaxing on the couch at the end of the day and let these babies do their magic. While the instructions say to leave on for 10 minutes, I keep mine on for as long as I can! The perfect “treat yo self” at home, since we know you had to cancel your mani pedi!
Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
