By now, you may already know how these LIY Team Try-Ons work. Each month, we select a retailer and the LIY Team scours said retailer’s virtual isles to find all the best new arrivals. This month [as you may have already gathered] we landed on J. Crew Factory. It’s no secret we LOVE all things J. Crew, but our love for The Factory runs deep. J. Crew Factory offers the same signature style, at prices we don’t have to feel guilty about. Sign me up, Scotty! With that said, enough small talk for now. Let’s dive into the real reason you’re here: what we found.
ERIN
Resin Coated Twill Jacket [true to size, wearing in small] // Snakeskin Scallop Tank [size up, wearing in 4] // Jeans [size up if in between]
The outfit that makes these awkward transitional months to dress for so much easier. I bought this jacket last year in the mossy brown color and found myself wearing it constantly so when I spotted it in this cement color, I knew I should snag it. It has a great structure and fit and the gold detail is the icing on the cake. I paired it with my favorite scallop tank which has been a trusty tank in my life for years now.
Classic denim short in black wash [true to size, wearing in 4] // Gibson x The Motherchic Tank [true to size, wearing in small] // Tory Burch Miller sandals [size up .5, wearing in sand patent]
Can we all agree that shorts can be hard to find? Insert this pair. I am in love. I’ve been a sucker for the button fly look for a few months now so when I saw these I wanted to try. What surprised me was just how well these fit and how comfortable they are. They are a 3 ½ inch inseam so a little on the shorter side but I felt totally covered.
Button – Collar Sweatshirt [size up if in between, wearing in small] // Jeans [size up if in between] // Flats [on sale, true to size]
Give me a sweatshirt that makes a statement any day of the week and I am sold. If somebody would have told me before I ordered it just how insanely soft the inside was, I would have ordered every color. Oh my cozy. I’d keep talking about it but you really should just experience it yourself.
HANNAH
Puff Shoulder Top [TTS, wearing in XS] // Similar Jeans // Slide Loafers [wearing in Camel Suede, size up .5]
There’s something about a bright colored top with some fun details that brings a little sunshine to my day, anyone else?! I’m stepping WAY out of my comfort zone with this red top but it’s definitely one of my new favorites! And it’s no surprise that I love it even more because of the puff shoulder! The sleeves aren’t too tight and the fit is just right!
Linen Cotton Blend Pant [TTS, wearing in 4 but need my normal size 2] // Crepe Cami [TTS, wearing in XS] // Blazer [TTS, wearing in XS] // Heels [TTS]
Another pop of color comin’ in HOT! These pink pants are such a statement maker and so dang comfortable! They are a linen-cotton blend so they are a softer and less structured material but dressy enough for work! Dress these up for work, similar to this look, or throw on a tee and some sandals for more of a dressed down look!Beaded Bracelet Set
I hope this stacking bracelets trend never goes away because I’m not stopping anytime soon! This set is delicate enough to stack all three, easy to tighten one handed and just enough of a statement without going overboard! Anyone else into this trend?!
BECCA
Leopard Leggings [TTS, wearing in XS] // Chambray Shirt [TTS, wearing in XS Petite] // Cardigan [TTS, wearing in XS] // Black Tunic [TTS, wearing in S] // Sneakers [TTS]
I couldn’t say no to these leopard leggings, they are just too fun! From running errands, to the park, grabbing coffee with a friend and beyond, they have Saturday written all over them! Pair with a button down and a cardi, and you’re ready for a casual brunch. Pop on a comfy tunic and you’re ready for a day of travel. These leggings are not for working out, but they definitely check every other box for leggings as far as I am concerned!
Sweater Blazer [TTS, wearing in XS] // Reversible Tank [Size Up, wearing in S] // Black Jeans [TTS, wearing in 2 Short] // Loafers [similar] // Ankle Strap Sandals [TTS, wearing in Black with Studs]
This blazer looks super put-together but it is a cozy sweater in disguise! Can’t beat comfy and professional — great for work or travel or anything else really! And this tank top — you need it any time you are packing for a trip in a carry on! It is reversible so you get a scoop neck and a v neck in one piece! It comes in white, nude and black and since you can change the neckline, is the perfect tank to layer under everything in your closet — two pieces in one!
Hair clips are definitely in! And I love this pretty brushed gold circle barrette! It’s perfect for pulling my shorter hair up and out of my face, while keeping things a little classier than just a ponytail holder. Chic and effortlessly easy!
LAUREN
Gingham Top [sized up one to large for bump] // White Maternity Denim [TTS] // Sandals [size up .05, color is sand patent] // Denim Jacket [TTS] // Leopard Headband // Flats [size up .05]
Give me gingham or give me death – I think that’s how the saying goes, right? Loving the bright color of this top, and that it can be worn alone, layered under a jacket, or layered over a tank! Plus it will be great for nursing this Summer and Fall! In the meantime, it’d be a great casual Easter option! I sized up one for the bump, but otherwise would find it true to size! PS How fun is this leopard headband?!
Mint Top [sized up TWO to XL for bump- typically a medium!] // White Maternity Denim [TTS] // Sandals [size up .05, color is sand patent] // Leopard Headband // Linen Pants [sized up TWO sizes for the bump, but would typically be TTS, wearing in navy] // Similar Wedges [TTS]
Looking for a great basic tee? Look no further! The perfect v-neck, a great sleeve length, and available in a ton of colors! I paired it with my go-to maternity white jeans, but also with my new J.Crew Factory linen pants! These have a stretchy waist, which is great for a growing bump, and could easily be dressed up or down! Fit tip:I sized up two sizes [maybe one too many] as I had to roll them several times to make the length better, and they also were sort of big in the thighs. I’d stick to your true size if trying these!
STEPH
Chambray Scalloped Shorts [Size up, wearing in 12] // Ruffle Sleeve Camp Shirt [TTS, wearing in M] // Ankle Strap Sandal [TTS]
These scalloped cuties were my go to pair last Summer. Or, I should say “pairs” since I rotated all four colors! When I realized a few weeks ago that they also came in chambray you better believe I hit Add to Cart without even thinking! What I love – they’re a nicer thick fabric so they hold their shape with repeated wear and they’re so comfortable yet elevated! What I don’t love – you do need to size up in these shorts because of the structure (which means not a lot of stretch in the waist). However – it doesn’t really matter what size they are if they look great for most Summer occasions! The only one who sees the size tag is me when I put them on!
Any time I can find an elevated black shirt to wear with almost every bottom I own, you know I am sold! This Ruffle Sleeve Camp Shirt is not exception! Nice feeling and airy fabric, flowy without being boxy, buttons that don’t pull across my chest. You’ll find me in this shirt repeatedly!
High Rise Girlfriend Chino Pant [TTS, wearing in 10] // Ruffle Sleeve Camp Shirt [TTS, wearing in M]
See what I mean about that shirt – I’m loving it with these pants too! What I’m not loving is the top portion of these High Rise Girlfriend Chino Pants! I’m so disappointed because I love the way they feel, and the way the rest of the pants looks… but I just can’t get over that weird situation at the top. They’ll definitely lead me to test out some other pants styles at J.Crew Factory – there is definitely something wonderful about the way their pants feel!
CLAIRE
Ruffle-Sleeve Shirt [TTS, wearing Medium] // 3.5″ Classic Chino Short [size down if in-between, wearing 8] // Carter Sandal [size up .5] // Similar Sandals [size up .5]
Take a walk on the wild side with me! The leopard trend seems to be sticking around this season and you better believe I’m taking full advantage of it. I love this fun pop of pattern without feeling like “too much”. The shorts run true to size, but I would suggest sizing down if you’re in-between. I’m typically a size 6/8 or 28/29 wearing these in size 8, but could have done a 6! I paired the printed shorts with a basic black blouse and I can already tell I’ll be turning to this one a LOT this spring. A great closet staple in my book!
Eyelet-Back Sweatshirt [TTS, wearing medium] // Gia Glider [size down if in between, wearing 6] // Similar Wedges
I’m a sucker for eyelet and seersucker. Put the two together and I can’t hit “add to cart” quick enough. This lightweight sweatshirt will be perfect for spring or cool summer evenings. Bonus: It’s available in 4 colors. True to size, wearing medium!
For your Pinning pleasure…
