While snow may have fallen this past week, March 19th has come and past on the calendar which means one thing: spring is officially here which means the cabin was in need of a spring home decor refresh. While Christmas lights and all things red and green will always have a special place in my heart, there is something that spring home decor does to my spirit – whether it’s the lighter colors or the happy patterns, spring radiates joy and if there’s one thing I want our home to be, it’s joyful.
This is our first spring in the cabin now that it has been fully renovated. To give you an idea of what the cabin looked like before we went crazy renovating, you can take a peek at this post which showed the cabin as it was ready for fall back in 2018. What a difference a year can make. With a brand new kitchen, painted walls and trim, a floor that has been re-stained, an updated fireplace, new stairwell and railing, and some new furniture and decor, you could say a few things have changed around here. Ready to take a look around? Come on in, your cup of coffee [or glass of wine, whatever your preference] awaits…
Welcome! Now that you’ve made it through the front door lets round the corner and take a step inside my favorite area in the cabin, our kitchen and dining room. We worked with Interior design by Shalmai Keim to cast a vision for what we should with this space and she delivered big time. I would have never thought of doing green kitchen cabinets but I couldn’t love them more [for reference – the cabinet color is Benjamin Moore Caldwell Green]. Not only did we get new cabinets, we created a whole new layout for the kitchen. Take a look around – you’ll notice all of the links for anything I could find online are placed below each photo!
Next stop – the living room. We’ve added a few new pieces of furniture, placed 15 too many pillows for Shawn’s liking [I swear, men and pillows..], hung a few new signs, swapped out the area rug and have spent many [many] days and nights lounging on the gray couch you see below.
While I’d love to take you upstairs, it is still a little bit of a work in progress up there with some paint jobs being finished so we’ll venture up there another day. Until then, these two boys want to say thank you for stopping by but next time, please bring a bone or treats 😉
Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
Here we are, a solid three days into March, and you should see the amount of Amazon packages that have already been delivered… eek! Wrapping up Winter and getting ready to dive into Spring has us getting our face routines in order, finishing up home reno and organization projects, and transitioning to lighterweight jackets! And […]
After a year of anticipation, the day has arrived — our Liverpool Los Angeles x LIY Collection is HERE! Before you meet the entire collection below, a few quick words about WHY working with Liverpool has been a natural and super exciting partnership – I fell in love with Liverpool jeans years ago [we’re talking the early days of […]
Two years ago we were just dabbling in the world of Amazon – do people actually buy clothes here? Holy cow there is a lot of stuff! Wait, I can buy THAT on Amazon? And now here we are, basically using Amazon as our Google for any and all shopping that needs to happen. And […]
Here at LIY, we believe cheap wine doesn’t have to taste like cheap wine [not that we would know the difference, since we only ever drink cheap wine]. When it comes to grocery store wines, we know firsthand how overwhelming the options can be. The shelves are stocked with endless options, most of which we’ve […]

What can you tell us about your stove? What kind is it and do you like it?
Hi Holly! We like it just fine! It works well, nothing too special. It’s Kitchenaid brand and it is a slide-in, hope that helps!
Where did you get the floating shelves for your kitchen? I’m sorry if it’s already listed somewhere!
Hi Melissa! The floating shelves were built by the cabinet makers!
Just perfect! I wouldn’t change a thing. Love all the things from Joyfully Said, too!
