My Summer Bucket List

We are literally ONE day away from summer officially being here and I can’t say that I am upset about it. Ranking at the top of my favorite seasons list, summer just gets me and I get it. Summer is like the koozie to my beer, the flip to my flop and the towel to my lounge chair. My only one dislike about summer? How fast it goes by. This summer I’m making an attempt to not let the days pass by without any intention of truly soaking up the season for all that it is worth. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my almost 32 years of life, it is that time is going by faster and faster whether we like it or not. I’ve always heard this buzzy little phrase of “bucket list” and this summer, I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon and make one for myself, with the intention that maybe [just maybe] if I write it down, it will happen.

Before I jump into my grand summer bucket list, a few quick words about a brand that inspires me to get outdoors, soak up what my backyard and neighborhood has to offer and enjoy every season that comes my way — Backcountry. I know you’ve heard me talk about Backcountry a countless number of times, but when you fall in love with a retailer, it’s hard not to. Not only do they offer brands that so many of us love and trust [from The North Face, Patagonia, Soludos, Sorel, Ray-Ban, etc], they offer hands down the best customer service experience ever and I love their overall message of encouraging people to get outdoors and pursue their passions. Right now you can use code YELLOW15 for 15% off your first purchase at Backcountry.com! Now, about those passions and my summer bucket list….

My Summer Bucket List:

+ Watch the sunrise and the sunset from the boat on the same day, preferably with coffee in the am and wine in the pm. We have watched plenty of sunsets, but never a sunrise. Something about that 5:00 am wakeup call 😉 This summer, I’m making it happen.

+ Wine tasting in Michigan with friends [bonus: this is on the calendar for TOMORROW! Nothing like getting ahead on my list….]

+ Start running again. If that’s too ambitious, start taking the dogs on regular evening walks. Poor pups do not benefit from my laziness behind a computer screen. They do however, benefit from my laziness of being on a boat.

+ Kick my feet up [literally and figuratively] and read a book. I’ve been on a little reading spree recently and I don’t want to stop anytime soon. There’s just something so great about getting lost in a good book and forgetting about anything on your to-do list.

Soludos Braided Slide Sandal [true to size]

+ Co-Host a baby shower for my best friend who is expecting her first little girl! I am not going to lie, I am not the most creative of hostesses so I really want to impress this time around. Your best friend only has her first child once after all..

+ Go on a weekend getaway with just this guy. Preferably one with zero plans attached other than a cute place to stay and some pretty scenery to look at.

The North Face Retro Sunsets T-Shirt

+ Strawberry or blueberry picking with my sister and nieces. This is something I did once when I was younger with my aunt and I’ll always remember it. I love the idea of recreating that same memory for my nieces!

+ Kayaking on our river. Here’s the problem when you have a boat, that’s all you want to use because boat = lazy. Kayak = work. Fortunately [or unfortunately if we’re being honest] for me, my arms could use some work it appears [oops, #winter] so I’m ready to get those things paddlin’.

+ See Jake Owen in concert, from the front row [one must have the BEST seat in the house when the scenery looks as good as he does ;)]

+ Master the Traeger Grill. There are thousands of recipes just staring at me and making me salivate, but we haven’t tried them. I’d love to get crafty on the grill and learn how to master their mac and cheese, ribs, burgers, pie [yes, pie] and so much more.

+ Don’t look back 😉
