We celebrate with girlfriends when things are good! We lean on our girlfriends when we’re going through tough times. So when we need some moral support to get waxed, who else do we call on? Our girlfriend of course. Introducing: Rip & Sip: an in-home waxing party!
Whether we’re shaving, waxing, or lasering, most of us are taking care of things in one way or another. But there’s nothing that puts fear into women like the thought of a bikini wax [or gasp, a brazilian!] So that’s why we’re calling in the reinforcements- our girlfriends and a cocktail or two.
Lauren had been to these parties before and now swears that it’s the only way to do it. Somehow she convinced us to try it, and we’re starting to think she’s right -it’s the only way. While the experience itself was not pleasant [anyone who tells you it doesn’t hurt is lying- it’s going to hurt, it may just hurt a bit less each time], we’re already starting to forget the pain and are thinking “hey, maybe we should go ahead and schedule next month’s rip!” Maaaaybbee. And to clarify, the esthetician we worked with uses a process called “sugaring” which is technically not wax- it’s a combination of sugar, lemon, and water. It’s supposed to be less painful than waxing, but I guess now we may never know!
If you’re ready to join the waxing party train, we’ve put together a few downloadable printables and pics you can use for sharing the info with your friends! Your esthetician will be able to provide you with a price list- we were able to do everything from eyebrows to legs to everything in between [literally, everything].
Here are all the details you’ll need to host your own…
Get together with your girlfriends for a few hours of sipping on cocktails and getting waxed in the comfort of your own home. Hence the name Rip & Sip! Heavy on the sip!
How it Works
A Few Weeks Before
-Reach out to your local estheticians to see if anyone does this or would be interested in starting this! Also, start talking to your friends about it- you may quickly learn that one of them has a contact who is already doing this!
-Pick a date and time that works for your group of friends and esthetician. You’ll want to plan on a few hours to allow time for everyone’s services! Your esthetician may have a minimum or maximum amount of people she’d prefer for each party to make it worth her time- 6 to 8 tends to be the right amount for our groups!].
-Send out a text message or PRIVATE Facebook event invite to your group, and include a cute pic like this 😉 Be sure to include a price list from your esthetician. We found the prices to be MUCH more affordable than going to a salon.
-Your esthetician will probably want everyone to let their hair grow for about 2 weeks, but you’ll want to check with her!
The Day Of
-Guests will bring a towel, cash + tip for their services, their drink of choice and maybe a snack to share [unless the hostess is providing!]
-Once the esthetician arrives, she’ll set up a massage table in a room- bedroom, playroom, downstairs- wherever has the privacy and space!
-Download and print out these cute printables to use!
-Setup a jar or container for money to be placed in next to a price list of services. Each person will put in cash for the cost of their services + a tip as an honor system. There’s no need to clearly state to your friends exactly what you’re getting done, unless you’re like Team LIY, and you choose to discuss every single detail about the whole experience. Your choice 😉
-As your girlfriends arrive, enjoy cocktails and snacks, and once your esthetician is ready, the first person can head on back to the room! Each person will want to bring their own towel to lay on the table. When the first person is done, the next can go, and then the next! While you’re not rippin, you’re sippin!
We sipped on a yummy cocktail consisting of champagne, grapefruit juice, and orange juice. We named her The Landing Sip. But you could create whatever concoction you’d like!
Now sit back, relax [ha, yea right], and enjoy your very own Rip & Sip party! Start sippin’ those cocktails, ladies- you’re going to need it! 😉

When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
