A Fireside Chat // Fall Decor Inspiration for Your Mantle

October 10, 2018

By:

Becca Grabner

I am absolutely obsessed with fireplaces. When house hunting, whether or not a house has a functioning fireplace falls somewhere between “Does it have a roof?” and “Is there at least one full bathroom?”. Only slightly exaggerating here — my husband knows full well that if there is no place to cozy up by the flames, a house is a complete non-starter as far as I am concerned! If at any point during the day the temp drops below 70 degrees, you will find me snuggled on the couch, coffee in hand and fire blazing. And yes, at this very moment I am writing this post while feeling the warmth of the flames from the hearth. So naturally, having some cozy mantle decor is something I strive for. [This is Becca by the way, you can find my other posts here.] The team and I put together 3 different looks for your mantle for fall inspiration. Don’t be surprised if after reading this you suddenly find yourself spending all your spare minutes by the fire as well!

Neutral & Natural

First up is a mantle for all you Joanna Gaines groupies! It screams cozy home while sticking to neutral tones and natural materials — black, white, wood, metal, and a little faux greenery to give it some life! The focal point is this stunning sign by Joyfully Said Signs, and the symmetrical look is completed by adding in wooden candle holders, pumpkins and a few eucalyptus pieces [garland // jars] created by the Magnolia queen herself!

Classic with a Twist

For those of you who rushed over to Starbucks and stood in line for your first PSL of the year before turning the page of your calendar to September [p.s. that’s code for Pumpkin Spice Latte, for those of you not addicted to the coffee] — we have a mantle for you! This one is an explosion of pumpkin, in all shapes, sizes, and textures! We’ve got a mix of faux and real in varying shades of the classic orange and white, but throwing in a pop of deep teal to give it a fun twist! The feature piece for this mantle is a simple roll of kraft wrapping paper with a fun fall saying doodled in permanent marker — cheap and easy DIY! And of course, we can’t forget about the Pumpkin Spice Me Sign from Joyfully Said Signs to complete this ultra cozy look!

Autumn Gemstones

Hues of amethyst, amber, and ruby mixed with golden accents make for a luxurious fall color scheme. We framed this mantlepiece with a mirror placed at the center and a ribbon strung wreath to add some autumn flair. Each side is anchored with vases of faux greenery in autumn gemstone shades, and touches of gold here and there to make it extra fancy! We added a cozy knit blanket and an adorable sign to encourage snuggles by the fireside.

That wraps up our mantle ideas! Hopefully one of these sparks an idea for your home this fall, and inspires you to spend some time fireside this season!
