The Den
I can’t believe it was six months ago already when we closed on the cabin. You know what they say — Time flies when you’re trying to decorate a house! While many of the rooms still don’t have the first piece of decor in them, our den is 99.9% complete and if there is a phrase I swear by, it’s “done is better than perfect”. I’ve never had an official den in my possession so I was a little bit curious as to what we would do with this space, but I must say, it’s quickly become one of my favorite little rooms in the cabin.
When it comes to the den, there are several reasons why I love it. For starters, it sits off of our living room [enclosed by french doors] and is also open to the LIY Headquarters. This means that while the team is scattered around the conference tables in our office, we can pull two or three of us away to have a more quiet or focused conversation. We use it weekly for meetings and it also receives some quality one-on-one time with yours truly when I really need to get down to business [or drink coffee in private].
When it came to decorating this space, I wanted a vibe that felt feminine enough for the LIY Team yet masculine enough for Shawn. By pulling in muted shades of yellow and pinks I was able to fulfill my girlish needs while keeping black the main color to create a sophisticated and classic vibe. To break up all of the wood, I added in metals, leather and velvet which warms the space and keeps thing cozy.
It’s no secret that we’re a lover of dogs in this household, so when we spotted these dog paintings at a local home interior store, we quickly decided that the den was going to be deemed our “dog room” with pups sprinkled throughout, including our very own Max and Ollie.
Here are several more looks at this space complete with the links to the items I filled it up with!
As always, thanks for stopping by — come back soon as I reveal the kitchen and dining rooms!
Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
