Lisa’s Skincare Routine (combination skin)
When I turned 40 three years ago, it was then that I made a conscious decision to improve my skin care regimen and routine. I saw my skin changing drastically moving from my late 30s to early 40s and I wanted to take better care of it. In the past, I would typically just wash my face and maybe use a little bit of moisturizer. Truly nothing else. I tend to be a creature of habit and always got so confused about skin care steps. As I started seeing an aesthetician on a regular basis I can’t believe how adding more products to my regimen has improved my skin drastically and being open to being educated on my skin type and why I need more than just a cleanser and moisturizer. (Believe it or not, in my 30s when my skin was so much more oily, I didn’t think I even needed a moisturizer!)
Lisa’s Morning Routine:
Zo Skin Exfoliating Cleanser: I love this cleanser! It is a refreshing way to wake my skin up. The little exfoliating beads are not too harsh and keep my face feeling fresh.
Zo Skin Oil Control Acne Pads: I cut these pads in half as I do not need a full pad in the morning. I swipe once across my entire face and let it dry before adding my moisturizer.
Osea Atmosphere Protection Cream: I definitely have combination skin and this moisturizer is so great for not making me overly oily in my T-zone area and keeping me hydrated all day long.
Tula Rose Glow + Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm: I love this brightening balm! It feels so cool when applied to under the eyes and is a perfect perk-me-up first thing in the morning. I do not even wear concealer under it.
Lisa’s Evening Routine:
Zo Skin Exfoliating Cleanser: I love this cleanser! It is refreshing for my skin and takes my makeup off so easily! (Note – I do not wear any type of foundation.)
Zo Skin Calming Toner: I put this toner in a fine spritz spray bottle and spritz my face after I cleanse. The directions say to use a cotton pad, but I like to let it just sink into my skin without wiping it.
Hanskin Vitamin C Serum: After my toner is dry, I press a few drops of this all over my face and let it sink in.
Osea Atmosphere Protection Cream: After applying my vitamin C serum, I moisturize at the end of the day with this incredible product! It’s nice to use at the end of the day with the serum because it doesn’t feel too heavy.
Zo Skin Retinol Skin Brightener: Every other day for my night routine I have added retinol to my regimen. It’s not a high percentage retinol but I definitely have seen a difference in my skin since adding it. I don’t like to use it every day just yet, but my aesthetician has informed me that as my skin continues to age it most likely will need to be put into place every evening, with also possibly increasing the retinol percentage. This product goes on a little thick for my liking, but I know it’s working.
Zo Skin Exfoliating Polish: About two times a week I use this amazing exfoliator. I don’t exfoliate every single day, typically every two days. This exfoliator is unlike any that I have used in the past as it is so fine and it polishes the dead skin cells off very gently. A little bit goes a long way with this product. This is the best exfoliator I have ever used!
LaNeige Lip Sleeping Mask: My very last step of the evening is the lip sleep mask. Sometimes I’m so tired at the end of the day that I forget to put it on, but I now keep it on my nightstand so I see it before I turn off the light to put some on. It definitely has helped the hydration in my lips tremendously!
I know that skincare can be quite an investment. I took changing out my products little by little and one at a time. A lot of the products that I use come in smaller sizes which is great because a little bit sometimes goes a long way and can help ease the cost.
A while back a friend of mine and I were talking about how styles and trends may come and go year after year, but our skin is with us for the rest of our lives. So I made a choice in investing into products that work well for me and opening myself up to educating myself about my skin to keep it glowing and healthy.

Allison’s Skincare Routine (oily skin)
After my divorce, I was on a single income and I had to change up my skincare products to be more economical. I tried many different serums and lotions, and after many fails, I found great, economically friendly products from the drugstore. I’ll be 47 in November, and I truly feel that my skin has never looked or felt better! The one product that I did not change, and I have used for over 20 years, is my L’Oréal eye cream. I use it every morning and every night. I jokingly call it “liquid gold”!
Allison’s Morning Routine:
As soon as I wake up I apply my eye cream. The cream I use takes away dark circles and puffiness from sleeping. I swear by this eye cream. I have one in my purse, one in my bathroom sink drawer, and an extra in my car just in case 😉 In the shower I use hydro boost face wash and exfoliator. After my shower, I apply a hydrating serum to my face neck and chest (I use this CVS brand). I then apply my eye cream (again 😉). After the serum and the eye cream dry, I apply L’Oréal Revitalift face cream to my face, neck and chest. The cream that I use is rather thick (I feel the more moisture the better!), and has a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 25. I believe you should wear a sunscreen daily even on cloudy or winter days.
Allison’s Evening Routine:
I will be honest here, I’m not very good at my evening routine. On the evenings that I remember, I use facial wipes to clean off my face, apply my face serum, and as always, apply my eye cream. If I’m feeling ambitious, I will do my exact routine from the morning, but in reality, I normally do the bare minimum before bed. I do use a silicone chest pad while I sleep to help ward off those side sleeper lines! I find it comfortable, and It is completely reusable. In the morning, you just simply rinse it off, and lay flat to dry. I have noticed a difference in my chest, and I try to use it every night.
The older I become, the more I realize how very important moisturizing your skin is, and due to my younger, non-sunscreen wearing days, I felt like I was doing catch up for years. Now I wear sunscreen daily, and especially on the days that we spend on the water. Any skincare regime is better than no skincare regime! Happy moisturizing ladies!
