Gifts that Give Back

December 1, 2021

By:

Erin Schrader

It’s the season of giving and here at LIY, we have a special place in our hearts for the brands that give back – not just during the holidays, but all year long. Today, we’re sharing a few of those retailers that are near and dear to us [just in time for holiday gifting!] in hopes you’ll consider shopping with a purpose this year. Because we’re firm believers that there’s no better feeling than giving a gift while knowing it’s also making a difference in the life of someone else! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to spread holiday cheer like it’s confetti this year. Happy shopping and happy holidays, friends!

Soup of Success

Tuscan Bean Soup

Turtle Brownies

Oh Soup of Success, how much I care about you. A year or two ago, I was asked to sit on the advisory board for this local organization who pours their heart and souls into empowering and bettering the lives of women who are in a position to be helped. Soup of Success provides an intense 20-week program that a woman can apply to be apart of that helps transform their lives from job training, emotional counseling, and so much more. The women learn on-hands job skills by creating and manufacturing a variety of products like soups, dips, cookie mixes, etc. These products are then sold and the proceeds go back into the organization to fund the program. Added bonus: the products are so delicious, we love making their hearty potato soup on cold winter days!

Mustard Seed Marketplace

Bel Koz Beaded Bracelets // Bel Koz Charms

It turns out that I have several powerhouse friends who are doing BIG things. Insert Mustard Seed Marketplace which is another small business that was started by my friend, Lisa. There is so much purpose and intention behind this business, Lisa started Mustard Seed Marketplace born out of an idea to only sell fair-trade, sustainable, give-back, or locally made products. She is a woman on a mission to help change the world and her business is doing just that. My favorite product from her shop are these Bel Koz Beaded Bracelets that come with a free charm. These bracelets are created by artisans in Haiti from the clay that lives there. By purchasing this bracelet, you are helping to provide a better life for women and their children in Haiti. Bonus: they are beautiful and make for perfect gifts!

Little Donkey Supply Co.

Tug Ball

Little Donkey Supply Co., only offer earth friendly natural products, and donates 10% to animal rescues. When I think of supporting small businesses – it really never occurred to me to shop for dog toys – but I feel like I hit the jackpot with Little Donkey Supply Co. Our girl is ROUGH on toys – she’s a 2 year old Australian Shepherd Mix, and she loves to play. Most toys we purchase last for 8 or so hours before I’m finding pieces all over the house. She’s had this tug ball for 2-3 weeks and loves playing with it, but it hasn’t frayed a bit! I think I’ll be adding this canvas leash bag to her stocking because the quality can’t be beaten, and I love the mission of this company!

Mud Love

Mud Love Bracelet – Enough // Mud Love Bracelet – Worthy

Mud Love offers  hand made products, with production shared between semi-local to us Warsaw, IN and the Domincan Republic (in partnership with Vida Plena). Every product sold gives a week of clean water to someone in the Central African Republic. I recently purchased 1 bracelet for myself, and one for a gift. I love the empowering words offered, and the mission we’ll be supporting by wearing these bracelets.

Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co.

Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. – Use code YELLOW for 15% off!

Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. is committed to using a portion of profits from every sale to support animal rescue organizations providing safe-havens for pups between homes. The coffee is delicious – but that aside, the packaging is just the cutest. With flavors from “Belly Rub Blend” to “Good Boy” Single Serve Pods – anything from Grounds & Hounds is a great gift for the dog and coffee lover in your life (seriously… these mugs).

AmazonSmile

AmazonSmile

When you shop at AmazonSmile, Amazon donates 0.5% of your eligible purchases – at no cost to you. You can choose which charity you would like to support through your purchases! Heyyyy if you’re shopping Amazon anyways, may as well give back too!

Together We Rise

Together We Rise

I have not tried anything from this company yet, but I love the pieces and the purpose behind it! With every purchase, 100% of the proceeds go to helping children in foster care nationwide.

Kendra Scott

Everlyne Gold Cord Friendship Bracelet

20% of proceeds from every purchase of the Everlyne Friendship Bracelet will help all women and youth live their brightest, healthiest, and most empowered lives!

Lush

Charity Pot Body Lotion

Spread some good with Charity Pot’s light, velvety feel and delicate floral scent. Lush donates 100% of the purchase price of this product to small grassroots groups!

Purpose Jewelry

There is no better time to shop for others while doing good at the same time. The best of both worlds! :yellow_heart: This jewelry is handcrafted with love by young women escaping human trafficking.

The Lipstick Journey

Creme Lipstick

Founded by Anna, a member of the LIY Community, The Lipstick Journey’s products are cruelty free, toxin free, and gives back with every purchase! Every purchase from the collection helps donate and volunteer in the fight against Cancer. Anna started The Lipstick Journey when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in 2017. She worked with a cosmetic chemist to create the original, moisturizing formula that is made and manufactured in the USA. Her company gives partial proceeds to cancer organizations that she has personal experience with and also sends lipstick free to cancer fighters/survivors to send a little joy!
