8 Outfits to Wear to Work this Fall

Disclosure: Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post.

Fun Fact: Before the days of Living in Yellow, I worked at a credit union and absolutely LOVED it. I thrive on interaction with others and after working from home for several years, physically going into the LIY office for meetings with the Team gives me an embarrassing amount of serotonin. While our dress code [if that’s what you want to call it] is pretty lax, I’m a firm believer that how you dress reflects how you feel. And on the days my outfits hit the borderline of business professional, I feel ready to take on the world. But I get it – when Fall rolls around, it can be easy to get stuck in a what-to-wear rut. Never fear! Today we’re here to share eight head to toe work-friendly looks for Fall, with a little help from Nordstrom.

It’s no secret that Nordstrom is near and dear to my heart. Nordstrom is a one stop shop for getting dressed from head to toe. With free shipping and free returns, options to buy online and pickup in-store, and customer service that is unmatched, shopping online is better than ever! You better believe I’m a frequent Nordstrom shopper, so being a part of the Nordy Club gives me plenty of chances to earn Notes for future shopping trips, free alterations, early access to shopping events, and so much more! Whether you’re working from home or back in the office, Nordstrom is here to make sure you’re the best dressed in and out of the office. With that said, here are eight head to toe work-friendly looks for Fall!

Dressed to Impress

Knot Sheath Dress [true to size] // Heels [true to size]

Ladies, there’s just something about a LRD [little red dress] that makes me feel so empowered and ready to get the job done. I’m a firm believer that every woman needs one of these powerhouse numbers in her wardrobe. A modest v-neck is hard to come by [the struggle is REAL, I got from my mama!], but this one has my approval. I also love the professional length and flattering wrap around the waist.

Layer Up, Buttercup!

Cardigan [Size down if in between, wearing XS] // Top [True to size] // Trousers [size down one] // Heels [true to size]

Layer up, Buttercup! If there’s one thing I know to be true about working in an office setting, it’s that the thermostat is typically off limits. And this time of year, it’s either ridiculously warm or insanely cold and there’s no in-between. Insert: cardigans. Not only do they make a cute and cozy extra layer, but they’re easy to slip off [without sacrificing the entire outfit] around lunchtime when things start heating up outside. This one has been a personal favorite for years – I own it in several colors and I’m not afraid to admit that my collection continues to grow every year because they’re truly that good!

Think Pink

Tie Sleeve Blouse [True to size, but size down if in-between] // Trousers [size down one] // Heels [true to size] // Belt

It might not be Wednesday, but you better believe I’m wearing pink! It’s no secret I’m a fan of wearing bright colors [errr… living in them 😉 ] and heading to the office is no exception. In fact, I’m boycotting boring colors at the office because to me, fun colors represent joy. And I think we can all use a little extra slice of happiness on the clock, am I right? Here’s to happiness in the form of pretty blouses!

It’s all in the Details

Puff Sleeve Sweater [True to size] // Trousers [size down one] // Heels [true to size] // Belt

Okay friends, I get it. If you’re not quite ready to commit to hot pink at the office or Fall colors are more your speed, this one’s for you! Work wear doesn’t have to mean boring-wear. Spice up any of your basics with a fun detail! This leopard print belt adds a little somethin’ somethin’ and matches just about anything in your wardrobe. Swap your dress pants and heels for a pair of jeans and booties and just like that, you’ve got yourself a date night look. Me-ow!

Camis & Cardis for the Win

Cardigan [Size down if in between, wearing XS] // Chiffon Tank [True to size, size up if larger chested!] // Trousers [size down one] // Heels [true to size]

Ahh a camisole [do the kids still say “camisole” these days?] and a cardigan, the classic pair. This look never seems to go out of style and for good reason! It’s classic, comfortable, and easy to swap out different colors or patterns of cardis and camis! And this time of year, you can’t seem to layer enough. Here’s to hoping this duo stays in our work wear wardrobes forever!

Play with Prints

V-Neck Blouse [True to size] // Trousers [size down one] // Heels [true to size]

Take a walk on the wild side, friends! Don’t be afraid to play with prints – especially animal print – this season and year round! Leopard print is here to stay and can absolutely be done tastefully and professionally. If you’ve been looking for a sign to give it a whirl in the workplace, this is it!

Back in Black [and White]

Classic Button-Up Shirt [Oversized fit, size down one] // Ruched Sleeve Blazer [True to size] // Trousers [size down one] // Heels [true to size] // Belt

Three classic staples every woman needs in her closet? A basic white button up, comfortable dress pants, and a blazer that makes her feel like a million bucks. Check, check, check! It doesn’t get much more classic, office chic than that!

Pop of Color

Blazer [True to size] // Similar Blazers // Blouse [True to size] // Trousers [size down one] // Heels [true to size]

Remember that bombshell blazer I mentioned? The one that makes a girl feel like a million bucks? This is her! I love it so much that I own it in several colors. Because when you find something you love, you purchase it in every color, right? Sounds about right to me! And there you have it, friends – eight head to toe work-friendly looks for Fall!
