Deck the Halls [Virtually]: 4 Holiday Mantel Ideas

December 7, 2020

The stockings were hung by the [virtual] mantels with care, in hopes that pretty little gift boxes soon would be there… see what I did there? 😉 The Holidays are only a few short weeks away and while they might be looking and feeling a bit different this year, the LIY team is making the most out of the most wonderful time of year. Nothing puts me in the spirit of the season quite like breaking out all of my holiday decorations and snuggling up by the fireplace to a Hallmark movie marathon. And while I’d love to invite you all over to snuggle up [shoutout social distancing season], we’ve decided to welcome you all into our homes virtually in hopes of bringing you a sprinkle of holiday decor inspiration. So without further ado, kick back and relax– our virtual casas are your virtual casas.

Hannah’s Mantel

I keep the decorating pretty simple around my house because I dread taking it all down, putting it all back together and repeating it over and over lol My mantle is no different, simple colors that coordinate with the rest of my decor with small pops of color are what I tend to gravitate towards! These cute patterned stockings in red and green and these super cute Christmas trees and Red Berry Wreath were just the pops of color I needed! Add some throw pillows, a cozy blanket and pass the hot cocoa I’m ready for Winter!!

Steph’s Mantel

Of course as I started to plan out my mantle, I first thought of hitting up Joyfully Said to grab a few signs. I chose to layer this Plaid About You and Oh Holy Night signs and love the way they look together!  [Remember to use code LIY20 for 20% off at Joyfully Said!] Next I needed to include a couple of items that varied in height so I found this cute tree trio and these candles. I have these candles in my home currently. They seriously smell like holiday magic in a box! They’re a great set to purchase and split as gifts since each smells and looks great on its own – or keep them all and enjoy all the wonderful scents yourself! Next I added some white birch logs and this grouping of trees in tall, medium and short, because why not bring as much of the outdoors in as we can?! Simple and cozy, just the way I like it!

Katy’s Mantel

“It’s the mosttttt wonderful timeeee of the year” anyone else? I love decorating for Christmas! As an adult I have never had a real mantle, so this “virtual mantle” thing was pretty fun for me. I wanted to go with a classic, but homey feel. I loved this pre-lit garland with ornaments to set the tone for my mantel decor. I thought it was so beautiful and added a traditional anchor along with these wood skis. My other mantel centerpiece is this sign (use LIY20 for 20%). I went with a cream color scheme for the stockings, throw blanket, village houses, and LED candle. Probably the most fun item in my virtual mantel is this pillow. Forget you had me at hello, you had me at “fa la la la”.

Claire’s Mantel

While I loveee decorating for the holidays, neutrals are my jam. I tend to be drawn towards lots of greenery and small pops of color. Living in an apartment, I haven’t gotten a chance to decorate a “real” mantel this season, so putting together virtual holiday decor was so much fun! If you’re working with a small space, I’m here to assure you that doesn’t have to mean sacrificing seasonal style. Small statements can go a long way when it comes to making your space cozy this season. Someone pour me a mug of [adult] cocoa, I’m ready to snuggle up!
