LIY Team Try-On: Abercrombie & Fitch Edition

October 19, 2020

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we? The year is 2005 and you’re rocking a brand-spankin’ new Abercrombie & Fitch graphic tee. The smell of Fierce cologne is wafting down the middle school hallways. The Black Eyed Peas are blaring through your MP3 player. Life is good. Fast forward 15 years and not much has changed. Our teenage selves are so proud of our 20/30 year old selves right now. If you haven’t shopped A&F recently, let us be the first to re-introduce you to the cuteness that lives on their internet shelves. From cozy sherpas to drool worthy skirts, team LIY is sharing our recent faves from the place we all loved many years ago! ps. if the iconic Fierce scent is still your jam [I’d buy it simply to stare at the bottle 😉 ], may I suggest this candle or this hand sanitizer? You can thank me later.

ERIN

Long sleeve tee [true to size, wearing in small] // Boyfriend Jeans [40% off, size down if in between] //  Booties [size up .5]

I’ve learned one thing about Abercrombie over the years when it comes to clothing [I’ve learned a lot about half dressed men drenched in cologne from this place but that’s another story for another day], but it’s that they have the best basics for fall and winter. Last year I fell in love with this cozy long sleeve legging tee and then this year discovered this ribbed long sleeve and well, I proceeded to buy in 4 more colors. It’s soft, it’s form fitting but not too tight that you feel like you can’t eat a second helping of apple crisp and it’s awesome alone or for layering.

Sherpa Half-Zip Pullover [true to size, wearing in small] // Faux leather leggings [size up if in between, wearing in small] // Sneakers [true to size]

If you are buying one thing from Abercrombie, allow it to be this. If you haven’t tried their sherpa products, you haven’t lived. I mean you have, but you haven’t lived feeling like a bunny rabbit frolicking in fields of carrots [I’m imagining that has to be a great feeling]. It’s so incredibly soft, stays in great shape wash after wash [I would air dry] and you can wear it with leggings. Need I say more?

Oversized Chenille Sweater [true to size, wearing in small] // Pull-On Jeans [size down if in between]  // Boots [44% off, true to size]

I fully stand behind the concept of oversized anything. Slap that word on any fall or winter item and I’m checking out asap. This chenille sweater is as soft as one would imagine chenille to be and covers the booty so if you prefer leggings over jeans [I feel you] this will work!

Becca

Sweater [TTS, wearing XS] // Satin Skirt [TTS, wearing Brown Pattern in XS] // Booties [Similar]

Cassidy shot some beautiful fall family photos for us this month, and this was the outfit I wore! It felt so nice to get dressed up after so many months of sweatpants and slippers! This skirt has an elastic waist so it is easy to slip on with a cozy sweater and booties! Dress it up for a wedding, or make it a little more casual for work.

Ribbed Tee [TTS, wearing Cognac Brown in XS] // Ruffle Joggers [TTS, wearing Dark Grey in XS] // Slippers [Size up if in between, Wearing Beige in S for Size 5]

Keeping it cozy over here with my new work from home outfit! These joggers are so soft and cozy, and I love the ruffles at the waistband and ankles! Just a touch of fun! This tee is a new favorite for sure — I love a classic ribbed tee! Super comfortable and pairs well with jeans, joggers, or basically anything else!

Mock Neck Sweatshirt [TTS, wearing Paprika in XS] // Jeans [Size Down if in Between] // Mules [TTS]

If you haven’t tried Abercrombie’s softAF items, you are really reeeeeally missing out! Honestly, any item from this line will be the softest item in your wardrobe! I am loving this mockneck sweatshirt not only for it’s soft coziness, but also for the beautiful paprika color!

HANNAH

Cozy Henley [TTS, wearing in XS] // Jeans [Size down one] // Sneakers [TTS]

Favorite basics for Fall — these Cozy Henleys! Layer ‘em, wear ‘em alone truly one of my Fall closet staple pieces!! I’ve worn these henleys from  Abercrombie for years and this NEW cozy fabric feels AMAZING! Can’t beat a closet staple that feels this good!

Long Sleeve Cozy Top [TTS, wearing in XS] //Jeans [Size down one] // Mules [TTS]

The theme for my faves from Abercrombie — ALL tops that are cozy!! Jeans, leggings, lounging, running errands if the top works with those bottoms I’m probably wearing it! This top oozes coziness and I wish you could feel just how soft it is!! It is a little boxy but a little tuck and you have some shape! AND the sleeves are a fun little detail to this pretty basic! P.s. it also comes in leopard print!

Waffle Puff Sleeve Sweater [TTS, wearing in XS] // Jeans [TTS] // Similar Booties

There’s nothing better than a waffle top but throw on a puff sleeve to that waffle top and well I can’t hit #addtocart fast enough!! This perfect Camel colored sweater arrived and OH MY I can’t stop wearing it! Pair it with these light wash denim and you have a Fall outfit you’ll probably wear on repeat ; )

Lauren

Oversized Chenille Sweater [size up at least one for the oversized fit. Color is Marled Cream] // Ultra High Rise Super Skinny Jeans [size up at least one! Color is black chewed hem]

It’s funny to me thinking back to high school when my favorite jeans were Abercrombie… and now here I am, once again, loving on A&F jeans [don’t even get me started on that Fierce cologne!]. I love a raw hem, and these have the perfect amount of stretch [however – definitely still size up!]. I paired them with a super soft “oversized” sweater, but I have to say – it’s not nearly as oversized as I was hoping. I’d suggested sizing up 1-2 if you really want it to fit oversized.

Katy

Bow-front Jumpsuit [size up if in between, wearing small] // Sandals [true to size, wearing 8]

I love a good versatile piece! You can pop the straps on this jumpsuit or take them off to make it strapless. Throw on a jean jacket in the cooler months and you’re ready to go! This is also great for long torso’s! More color and pattern options here.

Asymmetrical Snap-Up Fleece [size up one, wearing small] // Leggings [true to size, wearing extra small] // Sneakers [size down one, wearing 7]

OKAY. This is an LIY team favorite, so I had to get in on the fun. Let me say, it did NOT disappoint. It’s soft, warm, and I love all of the color options! The Light Brown Plaid is also calling my name.

Colorblock Hoodie [size up one, wearing small, camel brown]  // Sheen Leggings [size up one, wearing small, dark grey]  // Sneakers [size down .5, wearing 7.5]

I’m a fan of both of these pieces…just maybe not together (haha!) The only reason I say that is because this colorblock hoodie is cropped, so I may pair it with more “athletic” leggings or high waisted jeans instead! I am LOVING the color and feel of this hoodie! It’s casual, but the colorblock spices it up. These sheen leggings reminded me of a gray version of the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings, but these have less “shine” I would say. I’m excited to pair them with a sweater or longer sweatshirt to dress it up a bit! Warning: these do not have much stretch to them, so definitely size up!

Utility Romper [true to size, wearing xs, orange] // Sandals [true to size, wearing 8]

It may be a little chilly for this get-up at the moment (Summer, I miss you already), but this romper is a good one to have on deck for the next time the sun peeks out! Also available in green and cream! I love the tie and button detail (until I have to pee haha!)

Claire

Duster Cardigan [TTS, wearing medium in Light Brown] // Lace-Trim Cami [TTS, wearing medium] // Similar Denim [size up if in between] // Waterproof Booties [size up .5] // Belt

I can’t pass up a classic cardigan and this one was the perfect shade of brown [one that I don’t already own 😉 ]. You can dress it up with a lace-trim cami or dress it down for lounging around the house. The world is your oyster and either way, you’ll be cute AND comfy. Win-win, friends!

Cassidy

Oversized Chenille Sweater [size up at least one for the oversized fit. Wearing size Small]

Alright y’all, I have to tell you about this sweater… When I say I lived in this sweater for a week–I actually did. I would wake up in the morning and reach for this sweater every time, seven days a week! I am even labeling it as one of my favorite sweaters this year! I would absolutely size up at least one size for a more oversized sweater. I am wearing it in a size small, but I typically wear an extra small!

Ruffle Joggers [TTS, wearing Dark Grey in XS]

I have heard so many friends brag on these joggers, so I had to try them! I love how they are more fitted and give a little elevation to a normal sweatpant! 100% honesty, I will be curious to see how they hold up over multiple washes, the material was just different than I had imagined! So, I will report back as I find out!
