Life On The Lake

Disclosure: Thank you to Backcountry and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post. All products were purchased, worn and loved by yours truly.

It’s been over a month now since we’ve moved to the lake and friends, I have to admit – I’ve never loved being in a home [and backyard] more. There’s just something about being next to the water that does something to my stress levels [decreases] and something for my love of hosting/entertaining friends and family [increases]. I wouldn’t go as far to say that every day feels like a vacation buuuuuut maybe like a small getaway. And hey, I’ll take anything I can get these days.

We spend much of our time out on the pier [I like to get as close to the water as physically possible apparently] simply taking in the scenery of boats and jet skis whizzing by while I most likely have something cold in my cup. Speaking of, why I never bought a YETI wine cup before this time is beyond me [definitely a must-have summer essential].

With moving on the water there were a few items I quickly realized I needed more of in my closet [aside from the wine cup of course] and yes, the items I’m referring to are swimsuits, coverups and comfy flip flops. Insert Backcountry, the home of all of the best outdoor wear. I love that I can shop at Backcountry in the middle of winter as I’m gearing up for an outdoor fire with girlfriends or in the middle of summer when I’m hanging out with nothing but a swimsuit and coverup on. They carry so many swimwear brands that I love and have worn for years [Maaji, Prana, Reef, and more!] and offer the best customer service and fast free 2-day shipping over $50! If you’ve never shopped with Backcountry before, be sure to use the code YELLOW15 for 15% off your first purchase at Backcountry.com [exclusions apply]! Speaking of sales, you don’t want to miss this The North Face event happening now, up to 40% off past season styles!

Now, let’s get into these summer swimsuits and coverups you must know about. First up, this tunic coverup. Equal parts eye-catching and functional. I love a coverup that I feel like we can stop at a restaurant on the water in and I feel put together enough to sit patio side. This coverup does exactly that. Pass the appetizer please.

Of course, it doesn’t stop at the coverup. Also necessary – sunnies and comfy sandals for days on the lake. The minute I put these flip flops on I couldn’t believe just how cushioned they are. I may never be spotted in a different pair of sandals near the water for the remainder of the summer.

Next coverup – a similar style to the one above but in a slightly different pattern and color. I’m a huge fan of the coverups with sleeves to protect against too much sun while soaking up the day. I’ve found these aren’t hot at all to wear as the fabric is so breathable.

Of course, you gotta bust out the swimsuit while on the water. In my older age [hello 34 as of today], I’ve found myself gravitating towards more comfortable one piece swimsuits [that could also be the wine and appetizer’s fault ;)] but regardless, when I spotted this Prana One Piece Swimsuit. I knew I had to give it a try. It turns out it may just be one of the most comfortable one piece swimsuits I’ve ever put on. I feel like I could paddle-board, kayak, ride the jet ski or simply float on our raft all day long in this and it would hold up perfectly for all activities.

Last but certainly not least, an item too cute not to share. No day on the lake is complete without a cooler, especially a cooler adorned in palm leaves and pink straps. Stick a few bottles of whatever you plan on drinking, sling it over your shoulder and you’re ready to roll.

Sunnylife Cooler Bucket Bag

As you can see, this lake life stuff isn’t too hard to get used to 😉 Soon I’ll share more from the inside of the house but first, I’ve gotta find my way back in there. Until then, I’ll be here – waterside sippin’ on something good with the breeze passing by. Cheers!
