LIY For Your Guy // Summer Edition

June 29, 2020

By:

Erin Schrader

We know you love to see what the ladies of the LIY Team are wearing, but this month we’re coming at you with another round of LIY For Your Guy! That’s right – the men [aka the husbands] of LIY have hit the digital shelves, picked out their looks, taken their pics, and are ready to share what they’re wearing as we slide into Summer! So whether your man is hitting the gym, the links, or the local brewery, here are a few things he [or you] may want to add to his wardrobe.

PS If you’ve missed previous editions of LIY For Your Guy, peep ’em over here!

Shawn [Erin’s Husband]

Shirt [size down if in between, wearing in medium but should have done small] // Swimsuit [size up for a more relaxed fit] // Sandals [true to size] // Sunglasses

If you’re spending anytime outdoors this summer, these Guy Harvey sun shirts are some of my favorite outdoor shirts. Lightweight to keep you cool but long sleeve to help protect from the sun or bugs into the evening. I would size down if you go in between sizes, I did not do that for this green one (I have for the others I own) and should have. I paired it with my go-to Amazon swimsuit of choice and

These swimsuits are legitimately the only swimsuits I now own. For a product in the $20-range they seem to me to be a great value. These fit well, hold up well, and there are a million (seems like) patterns to choose from. For a more slim/shorter length I’d suggest ordering your regular size, for a slighter more loose and slightly longer length size up one.

The croc sandals (I know, crocs, ugh – but they’re really not that obnoxious) are also my summer go-to sandal when it comes to the beach, pool, lake, whatever. They’re the most comfortable flip-flops I’ve owned, hold up incredibly well (I still have the first pair I purchased more than 5 years ago), and are offered in a handful of colors although I went with the quiet navy blue option rather than a loud neon. I’ve also found they’re not slippery while walking on wet surfaces like many others are, which is important if you’re on concrete around the pool, etc.

Logan C [Hannah’s Husband]

Dynamic Fleece Short-Sleeve Pullover Hoodie [TTS, wearing size XL] //  Ultra-Soft Breathe Tee [TTS, wearing size XL] // Go-Dry Woven/Mesh Hybrid Workout Shorts [TTS, wearing size L] //  Reebok Men’s Flexagon Force Cross Trainer [TTS]

This time around I decided to go with some active wear. Physical fitness is a BIG part of my life and I am always looking to get some new gym clothes! I am a really big fan of short sleeve hoodies, so I was really happy to find one that fit really well. It’s a lighter weight sweatshirt and has a front pocket. It’s a nice warm up piece. The t-shirt and shorts are comfortable and breathable, making them great for workouts. I tend to gravitate towards one brand of shoes for training, and that is Reebok. These trainers are comfortable for running, Olympic lifting, and any other activity!

Eric [Lauren’s Husband]

Nike Dri Fit Golf Shorts [TTS] // Nike Victory Dri Fit Golf Polo [slim fit, size up for a looser fit – wearing in Medium] //  Nike Flex Experience RN 9 Running Sneakers [narrow fit, size up if you have wider feet]

I’ve always been a fan of Nike Dri-Fit apparel. A clean casual look with a lot of comfort means I feel just as comfortable at the office as I would partaking in any extracurricular activities. They’re nice and lightweight, keeping you both comfortable and cool. I would say that these items are pretty true to size – maybe erring slightly towards being a slimmer/athletic fit.

The same could be said about the shoes as well. Super comfortable- it feels like I’m walking on pillows. They’re great to be able to wear with jeans or to throw on to grab a drink after 18-holes! The fit is a little more narrow than some other brands of footwear, but personally, I like casual athletic shoes to fit a little more snug. Works to decrease the chance of getting “hot spots” or abnormal places of wear.

Matt [Becca’s Husband]

Stretch Poplin Short Sleeve Shirt  [TTS, wearing in Medium Tall]//  10″ Vintage Shorts [TTS, wearing in 31] //  Scarpe Sneaker [TTS] //  Gamut 3-Pack No-Show Socks

This is the type of outfit I would wear all summer for getting together with family for a BBQ. I want to look nice, but also be comfortable enough to play cornhole or bocce ball at a moment’s notice as I am never one to turn down a game of any kind. This shirt has a dotted stripe which is something cool and different. I like that the fabric has a little stretch and that it was available in tall sizes. These shorts have a great fit — good length and not too baggy. The fabric is casual, but quality. And lastly, these sneakers have a clean look with the white and the gum rubber sole. They are lightweight and comfortable, and I will be able to wear them with a lot of different things.

Stance Gamut 3-Pack No-Show Socks

These socks by Stance are my favorite no shows. As a guy with size 12 feet, no shows that fit well are hard to come by. I’ve tried many different brands, and they all slip and many will no longer fit after one time through the dryer. These Stance socks are cut low on my foot, yet come far enough up my heel that they stay put. And they’re also comfortable and breathable.

Logan M [Cassidy’s Husband]

Short Sleeve Linen Cotton Blend Button Down [TTS / Size Medium] // Long Sleeve Lived-In Button Down [TTS / Size Medium] // Classic Tshirt [TTS / Size Medium] // Slim Taper Jeans with GapFlex [Size Up / 32 x 30]

As the weather warms up, I am trying to stay cool while at work. My typical go-to look is slacks/jeans paired with a button down shirt of some sort. I was on the hunt for some linen blend/lightweight button down shirts that would be nice enough for work without being stuffy or suffocating. This short sleeve linen cotton blend button down has been my go-to for work and after work while hanging out around our patio. This long sleeve lived-in button down is also lightweight enough to stay cool but is appropriate for my workplace. GAP tees have also been my favorites for years, highly recommend these! And finally, I ordered these jeans but unfortunately they were too slim for my liking. If they are more your style, I suggest sizing up.
