If you’ve followed along for any length of time now, you’ve probably seen a few of our smiling faces around these parts. And if you’re new around here, you can read a little bit more about the LIY team and what we do here. Just like all women with a passion for fashion, we each have our own personal style, taste, and favorite brands to shop. Today we thought it would be fun to introduce ourselves and share a look into each of our individual styles [and our closets]. So without further ado, introducing the women behind Living in Yellow– and what we like to wear.
Erin

- How would you describe your style?
- Basic yet colorful, comfortable yet elevated and timeless with little bits of trendy sprinkled in between. I think of my style often as “the girl next door” who may be experimenting with a new trend from time to time but mostly sticks to what I feel most comfortable in – an easy to wear top, comfortable pair of skinnies and a shoe that offers a pop of color!
- Who are your style crushes?
- I love all things Jennifer Aniston [classic, timeless, comfortable and chic], Cameron Diaz, Eva Longoria and Sarah Jessica Parker [while I’ll never be nearly as cool and as fashionable as she is, a girl can dream].
- What colors make up your closet?
- Literally every color in the rainbow. I can’t think of a color I don’t have hanging in my closet. While I have a fair share of the classic black, white and grays, I love gravitating towards colors that are going to energize me throughout the day [bright yellows, emerald greens, vibrant pinks, and the list goes on] Hence the name of my blog, living in yellow, which was literally inspired by a yellow sweater hanging in my closet.
- What are your favorite stores/brands?
- I’m always first checking out what’s new at Nordstrom [Treasure & Bond, Halogen, Gibson and Chelsea28 being a few favorite brands], am a sucker for Boden and all of their bold pieces and fun loving patterns, J.Crew Factory for classic basics, Eliza J for dresses and jumpsuits, Liverpool for jackets, blazers and jeans, Tory Burch for shoes and bags, and I love Athleta for athleisure wear!
- What are 3 items in your wardrobe that you couldn’t live without?

BECCA

- How would you describe your style?
- I feel like my style walks the line between classic and trendy. Although I stick almost exclusively to neutral colors, I love to make a statement with surprising cuts, unexpected textures and unique details. I aspire to an edgy, urban street-style look, but at the same time I’m just a small town girl who ends up toning down the bold to blend in with my cornfield environment more often than my heart actually desires!
- Who are your style crushes?
- Anine Bing, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Emma Watson, and Lucy Hale!
- What colors make up your closet?
- Almost entirely Black, White, Grey and Beige. Or if I feel like stepping out of my comfort zone, maybe the occasional crazy color like burgundy, olive, or blush.
- What are your favorite stores/brands?
- Prologue, H&M, Vero Moda, Top Shop, Liverpool, Zara, Something Navy, and Who What Wear!
- What are 3 items in your wardrobe that you couldn’t live without?
- A classic plaid blazer, an eye catching pair of jeans, and a hat. Always a hat.

- How would you describe your style?
- Chic + Classy [with a bit of edge]! I tend to stick with the classic Black + White but always add a pop of color or statement piece like jewelry, shoes or a jacket to elevate my look just a little more! I always try to find classic pieces but find an edgy or unique item to add to my outfit to add a little more texture and uniqueness to it [studs, embroidery, embellishments]! I’m a BIG fan of statement sleeves whether it’s on a tee or a blouse, it makes me feel just a touch more dressed up when I don’t feel like trying to put a whole lot of work in an outfit! AND heels… I may have an obsession, actually I know I do! The more unique the heels the better!

- Jennifer Anniston, Kate Beckinsale, SJP, Kate Moss, a pinch of Victoria Beckam and Anne Hathaway [from the devil wears prada]!
- What colors make up your closet?
- Black, White, Navy and Bold Pops of color mixed in to elevate the look just a little more!
- What are your favorite stores/brands?
- Zara, Something Navy, English Factory, Charles by Charles David, Express, Who What Wear [Target], Rebecca Minkoff, Mango, Nordstrom, and Nordstrom Rack.
- What are 3 items in your wardrobe that you couldn’t live without?
- Statement Jacket or Blazer, Statement Heels or a Classic Pair of Stilettos and a great pair of Black Jeans.

LAUREN

- How would you describe your style?
- I’d describe my style as classic/preppy with a bit of edge or glam mixed in. I tend to choose items that could live in my closet for several years because they’re less trendy and more timeless. I lean towards a preppy style, and not-so-secretly dream of being a southern bell someday [is 32 too late to still have this dream? 😉 I love all things chambray, stripes, scallops, eyelet, bows, monograms, leopard, and gingham. However, I like to mix in bits of an edgier style, with moto jackets, faux leather leggings, studded sandals and jewelry. For date nights or girls night, you’ll almost always find me in some shade of black. Most important to me now is comfort – if I know I won’t be comfortable wearing it, I just won’t wear, so I won’t buy it even if it’s cute.

- Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Biel, Meghan Markle & Kate Middleton
- What colors make up your closet?
- While I love brights in the summertime, your girl here is a serious sweater, so I choose material and color combinations that won’t show sweat! When in doubt, I choose black, and in the summer I choose white [although that’s a scary color with a toddler].

- DEFINITELY not saying I can afford all of these, but these are my favorite stores for inspo! J.Crew & J.Crew Factory, Gap, Loft, Boden, Old Navy, Lilly Pulitzer, Mark & Graham, Nordstrom, Express, Stella & Dot, and Tuckernuck

- I’m cheating and giving four 😉 White jeans, a black leather jacket, a denim jacket, and a casual black maxi dress.

- How would you describe your style?
- Fairly conservative, elevated basics. I’ve never been one to spend a ton of time or energy on my look, but appreciate feeling put together when I leave the house. I find myself constantly on the go and don’t like to wake up extra early to get ready so my closet is full of things that are easy to throw together without much planning – lots of shirts that can be worn alone or layered, and too many jackets/cardigans to admit to. You’ll also find basic pants and versatile shoes for every season. I love adding diversity to my looks with big statement earrings and occasionally a fun statement shoe.

- Joanna Gaines and Jessica Biel!
- What colors make up your closet?
- Black, black, black, teal, boysenberry, black and grey!

- A blazer/Jacket – I love adding blazer or jacket to dress up my look for a day at the office or dinner out! Fun colored New Balance sneakers – Perfect for throwing on to add a pop of color to a look, and perfectly comfortable for all day errands and going to the park with my kids! Comfortable, stretchy, basic jeans – Perfect for, well, basically any casual event in my life because they coordinate with everything since they’re basic. PS – This is my favorite treat yo’self pair!

- How would you describe your style?
- I would describe my style as “Urban Boho!” I love staying up with trends, keeping things simple yet edgy, but also adding in that retro or boho flare! To me, it’s where trendy street style meets 70’s fashion!
- Who are your style crushes?
- Vanessa Hudgens, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Lucy Boynton
- What colors make up your closet?
- Mustard yellow, oranges, emerald greens, camels/beiges, whites, and blacks!

- How would you describe your style?
- Feminine, preppy, and classic with a touch of trendy! I love timeless looks paired with hints of “trendy” [think leopard flats or a snake print cami]. I tend to stick to my comfort zone and try new things in small amounts! Neutral colors and elevated basics are my jam. They say if you look good, you feel good, right? I feel good when I’m put-together and can go from the office, to dinner, to the dance floor all in the same day. If I had a dollar for every time the girls at the office have said “You need to go on a date in that outfit”, I could afford to take myself on endless dates!
- Who are your style crushes?
- Blake Lively [Can I be Serena Van Der Woodsen when I grow up?], Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Julianne Hough [I’m realizing I should just star in the next Nicholas Sparks romance].
- What colors make up your closet?
- First and foremost, neutrals! I love warm earthy tones, so 50 shades of beige, taupe, greens, black and white. If you’ve known me for any length of time, you probably know pink is my jam. That being said, if a top is available in a blush shade, you better believe its got Claire written all over it. My biggest color risk is royal blue- I once read that it’s a good color for redheads, so I took it and ran with it!
- What are your favorite stores/brands?
- It’s no secret I’m a Nordy girl at heart; so brands like Gibson, Liverpool, BlankNYC, Madewell, Caslon, and BP. make up my closet. When it comes to shoes, Erin has me hooked on Sam Edelman, Steve Madden, and Sole Society. While I’m more of an online shopper these days, I love a good Target run and never leave empty handed. It’s also conveniently located next to Old Navy which rarely lets me down. Other favs include Loft, J Crew Factory, DSW, and Nordstrom Rack— because who says you can’t ball on a budget?
- What are 3 items in your wardrobe that you couldn’t live without?
- I’ve used my Tory Burch Crossbody every day for two years straight, this is a similar style. On a night out, you’ll most-likely catch me in a great moto [My favorites are BlankNYC or Liverpool]. Depending on the season, there’s a 99% chance I have these on my feet: these sandals in the summer or these boots in the winter.
