There’s just something about the initials “HQ” that make anything sound a wee more bit more legit. Add LIY to the front of it and well, it just makes it plain exciting in my world. LIY HQ — the new office for Living in Yellow is officially under construction and on its way to becoming the official home of where future ideas will be dreamt, many blog posts written, meetings after meetings conducted and of course – copious amounts of coffee consumed. I thought it’d be fun to share a little behind the scenes progress of what it’s currently looking like along with a few ideas for the space. Let’s start by climbing up the [not so] corporate ladder… 😉
Before I dive in too deep [or fall off the scaffolding], let me quickly fill you in on a little secret I’ve been keeping — it goes by the name of Facebook Marketplace and it’s the home of great deals, back to school items, home and office furnishings, electronics upon electronics and literally anything and everything you can dream about. I’ve started purchasing a few things already in preparation for our new space like this Dyson Cordless Vacuum for a mere $200 off [50% off!] which shipped fast from Groupon and right to my door. They have a variety of vendors, stores and brands which makes shopping in one place stress-free and easy, just like shopping should be. You better believe I’ll be keeping this new office tidy [fun fact: I’ve always been known as the girl on the team who likes to start cleaning in the middle of a meeting].
In the rest of my shopping rendezvous from Facebook Marketplace, I picked up this Storage Table Organizer Cabinet for under $100 [we’ll need somewhere to store all of those coffee supplies or shopping slips] and a HomeGoods gift card to furnish the space with all of the decor possible when it’s go-time. Counting down the days until it’s time for that. I was amazed by how many things I could find directly on Facebook Marketplace and highly recommend checking out for whatever shopping needs you have!
So what’s the space looking like currently and what are the future plans? Allow me… for starters, it’s full of wood right now. Lots and lots of wood. What was a barn on our property at the cabin is now going to be the home of LIY HQ, complete with a conference room, my office, a lounge area, kitchenette & coffee bar, photoshoot studio and six individual offices for the girls of LIY! What you’re looking at below is a view from the conference room that will look out towards the lounge area and above where the individual offices will be! Yes, drywall will be installed.
If you look past the scaffolding, you’ll notice where windows will be placed and you’re looking at the future home of my individual office [right outside the kitchenette, just like it should be ;)]. On the backside of my office [where the saw is currently sitting] will be the photoshoot studio where a couple of photo backdrops will be housed for all of our indoor shoots.
I have never been more excited for a space to be finished and utilized. Having a true office has been a dream of mine over the past year or two so to see it come to fruition is beyond anything I can actually imagine! I can’t wait to show you the full review once it is actually all said and done..until then, you’ll catch me here. Just working away on a pile of 2×4’s 😉
Remember to check out Facebook Marketplace for your future shopping needs!
Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
