From Work Hours to After Hours

May 17, 2019

Erin Schrader

Disclosure: Thank you to Ann Taylor and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post.

Nowadays, my typical office attire is some combination of jeans and a top or maybe sweatpants and a sweatshirt. Very similar looks. Tomato tomato. But there are a lot of days that I miss getting dressed in my business casual attire and heading out to the office for the day! Putting on those heels and slinging that tote bag over my shoulder, there was no-one who could stop me [except maybe a police officer for speeding since I was probably running late. Or a coffee shop- those got me a lot too]. But seriously, I do love any chance I have to bust out a traditional office look since it doesn’t happen that often anymore.

That’s why I was so thrilled when Ann Taylor reached asking me to be a part of their 7 Days, 7 Dresses Campaign! This collection of dresses features silhouettes that are beautiful yet simple all while being extremely functional, making them the perfect foundation for your summer wardrobe! They can easily transition from meeting with clients to dinners with friends, which saves us both time AND money!

The LPD [Little Pink Dress]

Ann Taylor Eyelet Ruffle Doubleweave Sheath Dress [TTS, wearing size 2] // Ring Pearlized Drop Earrings

Let’s talk about your new favorite dress. It has a super flattering cut to it, being mostly fitted without being stretchy and clingy. I love the detail around the shoulders- a bit of ruffle, a bit of cutout, a bit of my heart has been handed over! And the length is just right, as it hits just a bit above the knee. You won’t need to worry about it riding up and feeling a bit risqué, while at the same time not feeling like it’s your grandmother’s dress. Plus, the shade of pink is gorgeous- not too bright, not too pastel, just a great pop!

Workin’ That 9-5

Office attire doesn’t have to be boring. Black pants definitely check the box and meet the office dress code criteria, but is there anything in the rule box that says you can’t wear a pink dress? I think not. I try to channel my inner Elle Woods whenever possible. Plus, just like with working out, I believe that you have better results when you like what you’re wearing! If your office needs covered shoulders or the AC is always cranked on, throw on a blazer like I did for some added coverage!

After Hours

While that desk job may have your little pink dress hiding all day [I think we should make LPDs the new LBD], as soon as the clock strikes 5PM, you’re out the door to meet your man for date night or get together with the girls for drinks! Time is money when it comes to how quickly you can get out the door and get to your next stop, so keeping the same main item on is key! In this case, that’s the LPD! It’s time to lose the blazer and swap out your work tote and computer for a fun clutch!

Statement Shoes

Leannette Straw Block Heel Sandals

And we can’t forget about our shoes! How amazing are these heels? The bit of black ties in with the blazer, and they make a statement without being over the top! Plus, the heel is a great height for walking to the break room a few [too many] times or dancing the night away!

Simple Earrings

A simple pair of pearl earrings is perfect for a work look, giving off a classic vibe! I love the twist on the traditional stud pearl earrings that this pair has with the added gold and drop!

If you’re ready to update your 9-5 AND your 5-9 at the same time, check out the other dresses in the 7 Days, 7 Dresses collection!
