How to Style Statement Shoes

March 21, 2019

Disclosure: Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post.

We all know how it goes. You see some super cute shoes – leopard, bright colors, fun prints, even white or ivory, and you can’t stop looking at them. They’re whispering, “Hey! Pick me! Take me home! My bright pink color is cuter than that other pink pair over there!” And you think to yourself, “Yea, they’re actually right. They are cuter.” But you can’t help but wonder, “What the heck would I wear with these?” Well wonder no more, my friends! Today we’re showing you how to style three pairs of statement shoes, so you can start incorporating them into your every day looks with ease! It’s simpler than you think!

Right now, Nordstrom has some amazing prints and colors as we transition to warmer weather, and it’s the perfect time to try something out of your comfort zone! With free shipping and free returns, you can just keep what you love! And if you live near a store, you can buy online and pick up in store, or even do curbside pickup [hello, car full of kiddos!]. And since Nordstrom’s clothing selection is just as amazing as their shoe selection, you can get your outfits to match your shoes all at once!

Now, let’s get to what we never seem to have enough of- shoes!

Bright Colors

Treasure & Bond Sannibel Platform Wedge Sandal [size up .5] // Halogen A-Line Dress [size down if in between, wearing in XS]

First up, let’s talk bright colored shoes! These are one of my favorite pairs of wedges, in one of my favorite colors- yellow! When your shoes are bright, they’re definitely going to stand out, but an easy way to tie the outfit and the shoes together is to find a piece that has that bright color in it as well. I love that this dress has a bit of yellow in it to tie it to the shoes, and help balance things out!

White or Ivory

Something Navy T-Strap Pump [true to size] // Halogen Wide Leg Crop Pants [true to size, wearing in XS]// Halogen(R) Pleat Front Crepe Top [true to size, wearing in XS]

Next up, we’re looking at a lighter colored statement – ivory pumps! When you think statement, you might not think white or ivory, but that color in a shoe really does stand out! Just like with the brighter colors, with whites and ivory, I try to tie a color from the shoes into the outfit. Plus, as shown in this outfit, white or ivory is a fun twist on the traditional black or brown that’s worn to offices so often. I also love that the t-strap in the shoes seems like a continuation of the stripes in these pants!

Leopard Print

Halogen Bethany Platform Genuine Calf Hair Sneaker [true to size] // BP. Distressed High Waist Skinny Jeans [true to size] // 1901 Graphic Tee [true to size, wearing in small]

Finally, our favorite animal print- leopard! While I might believe that leopard is a neutral, I understand that many feel it’s a statement. For leopard, I tend to pair it with a primarily one-color top, so the shoes are what really pops. In this instance, I’m wearing these leopard platform sneakers with this fun navy graphic tee and a pair of jeans. I also love black pants, black top and leopard shoes- the more that I see that leopard is the focus the better!

Do you have any statement shoes you’ve had your eye on? Hopefully you have a bit more confidence in how you can rock them now!
