Let’s not turn into leaves, this year!
Ah, fall. The season where we wear rust, olive green, maroon, and shades of brown, right? Wrong! While I’m a-okay wearing each and every one of those colors [and you’ll see me doing that plenty while I sip on my PSL and slide into some Uggs] there is absolutely no reason not to step out of your fall color comfort zone. One of the hottest trends this year is wearing bold colors for fall. Maybe too many people were disappearing when they jumped into leaf piles, maybe not, but whatever the reason, bold colors are in. White, hot pink, red, mustard- there’s no stopping you once you get going on this trend!
Traditional fall colors tend to be a bit conservative without much pop. Working in bold colors for fall this year is easy with free shipping and free returns through Nordstrom. And even faster is their curbside pickup for online orders! Kids sleeping in the backseat? You don’t even have to get out of your car to get those new, bold colors added to your closet! Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to shop for all things fall- sweaters, scarves, boots and more, in all the trending bold colors. Meaning there’s no need to disappear into the leaves this year!
Rules are Meant to be Broken
Free People Split Back Turtleneck [wearing XS] // Jen7 Release Hem Colored Ankle Skinny Jeans [wearing size 2] // Halogen Refined Wide Brim Wool Floppy Hat // BaubleBar Dalia Hoop // BP. Brice Notched Bootie
Remember that old “rule” that said white could only be worn between Memorial Day and Labor Day? Well, I say rules are meant to be broken. White [or ivory] is an easy color to throw on with dark or colored denim [as I did], black pants, a brown skirt, booties, riding boots, and on and on and on. Really, the options are endless, so why limit a color to only a few months a year? Who know white could be such a bold color!
Yellow is my jam.

It’s no secret. Yellow is one of my favorite colors, so adding this mustard color into my fall rotation will be no problem. As the days start to get shorter, and the sunshine [at least in Indiana!] starts to appear less and less, wearing yellow as my own personal sunshine keeps the smile on my face! Mustard looks great with a jean denim and shades of browns, which is perfect for fall since there are so many brown boot and bootie options! Be cautious about pairing mustard with black- you don’t want to start looking like a bumble bee!
Santa Baby, I’m Wearing Red This Year
1.STATE V-Neck Peplum Blouse [wearing XS] // Hudson Jeans Nico Coated Super Skinny Jeans [wearing size 26] // Rebecca Minkoff Small Love Genuine Calf Hair Crossbody Bag // Sam Edelman Rivera Genuine Calf Hair Flat
Wearing red, whether in pops or as a statement like these pants, is a bold color choice for fall that I am 100% on board with. A darker red or burgundy is a more traditional fall color, but why would you want to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to bust out your bold red for the holidays? I like to think the longer you’re wearing red, the more likely Santa will put you on his nice list. And whatever I can do to get on that nice list I’m all for. Pair red with a neutral piece, like this black top, for balance. And round it all out with shoes and a purse in my other favorite neutral- leopard.
Pink is Poppin’
Vince Camuto Puff Shoulder Crepe Blouse [wearing XS] // Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution Skinny Ankle Jeans [wearing size 2] // BaubleBar Granita Beaded Tassel Earrings // Urban Originals Timeless Vegan Leather Tote // Sam Edelman Hazel Pointy Toe Pump
Hot pink is one of the hottest colors for this fall! While we may normally think of this color for tropical vacations or our summer pedicures, this year, we’re putting it front and center. Pair this top with a dark or black pant option and a pair of heels, and you’re ready for date night or the office! Plus, I feel like I’ve got a little extra spunk when I’m wearing it!
Be sure to keep these colors in mind when updating your fall wardrobe at Nordstrom, and let me know which ones you’re loving the most!
