What to Wear to a Fall Wedding

First come loves, then comes marriages, then comes being invited to a fall wedding and having no idea what to wear! I think that’s how the little jingle goes! But seriously, the bride and groom [thankfully] take care of all of the details of the wedding itself, and leave the rest of us with one big task- what to wear. As the temperatures start to drop, we need to start thinking about sleeves, wraps, and tights to make sure we don’t resemble a college girl running home from the bar in a tank top at 2am in January. Not the best look, but it happens. I’m here to help make sure you look your best for any wedding invite that comes your way, while keeping the fall temps in mind!

We’re in luck, because Macy’s is running their annual Labor Day Sale now through September 3rd. This includes 20% off site wide with code WKND. Plus, during the sale, Macy’s is offering free shipping on orders $49 or more! This means you can easily get your fall wedding guest dress and accessories for a steal during this Labor Day Sale! With all these dresses to choose from, there’s no doubt you’ll find something you’ll love that would be perfect for the wedding you’re going to.

The LBD

First up, the LBD. You really can’t go wrong with a black number like this for almost any fall wedding. And how fun are the puffed sleeves? Let’s talk shoes– unless there’s snow on the ground [please no no no, we need FALL], I love to pair open toe shoes with a sleeved dress. It makes for an easy transitional look, and also gives you an excuse to keep those summer pedicures going 😉

A Casual Affair

Now, we’re looking at a casual fall wedding option. This would be a great option for an outdoor wedding, barn reception, or backyard setting. The light material is perfect for the warmer days of fall, and you can easily throw on a white denim jacket as the evening comes to an end, or to get more use out of the dress in the office!

A Formal Fall Wedding

Finally, let’s say you get invited to the DREAM- a black tie or formal fall wedding. A formal wedding dress code tends to mean a floor length gown or a very dressy, shorter, cocktail dress. While there are options with sleeves for those cooler fall days, I like to bust a move [bring the sweat] on the dance floor. So with the long length, I chose to keep my arms uncovered, and add on a wrap to use for the ceremony portion and outdoors. I am OBSESSED with the ruffles and cut on the bottom of this dress. Plus, the red version kind of makes me think I could be the dancing emoji girl.

Now that you know what to wear to a fall wedding, all you need is a gift [don’t forget, Macy’s has AMAZING wedding gifts!], and some ibuprofen for your headache after too many glasses of wine!
