Current situation: sitting here in a cozy cardigan, long sleeve tee, leggings, slippers, socks and a fresh cup of coffee in hopes of not freezing my head off. Outside it’s snowy and icy [fun!] and 100% grey skies. The mere mention of a vacation makes me want to spin in circles, throw on a bikini [okay, lie] and find my way to the nearest hammock with a book in hand. Basically, I’m desperate for some Vitamin D and temperatures above freezing. Personally, I don’t think that’s too much to ask, however, Indiana disagrees.
Fortunately, I’ve got a few travel plans in the works over the next couple of months which has had me turning to all things spring and new arrivals for what to pack [first up being San Diego in a few weeks!] We’re talking sandals, kimonos [who doesn’t love a great kimono for the beach or dinner along the water], and bags that are easy to take with you on the go! Because I’m a sucker for Sole Society and their endless options of adorable footwear, handbags of all shapes and sizes and accessories that add the perfect pops of color and patterns for your outfits. I thought I’d share some of what I picked up to get your vacation juices flowing.
When I travel I gravitate towards comfortable yet cute. Nobody wants to be walking in around in stilettos every evening. For airport days, I love flats. Gone are the days that flats have to be boring – I am especially loving this pair that I picked up in this awesome bright coral color. Perfect for warm weather and add such a pop to any outfit! Another great shoe to take with you? Either pair of these block heel sandals – I love that they are easy to walk around in, yet turn up the notch on any look. Block heels > skinny sticklike heels. I love this pair of navy open toe booties and ahh, these fringe heeled sandals are a 12 on a scale of 10 for cuteness. Whether you pair em’ with denim, white capris, shorts or little sundresses, these beauties will have you covered.Moving onward, obviously, you’re going to need some bags while on the go because what good is traveling if you can’t take your entire life with you 😉 I typically pack 2-3 styles of bags with me when I travel – one, a clutch for dressier nights out, two, a crossbody as I find these the easiest to sightsee and be able to enjoy what you’re doing more easily thanks to your hands not having to be tied up and then three, a regular tote to either use as my purse or a bag to take to the pool or beach which can hold all of the necessities. I went with this tote and this crossbody. Now if you are looking for a fun scarf to take or kimono to throw on, I highly suggest this adorable floral scarf and this floral velvet kimono [it’s gorgeous!]
Of course, when it comes to traveling, you have to get to and from your destination which means one thing – comfortable layered looks. I’m always freezing on airplanes or sweating my [non-existent] balls off. Because of this, I need options. When I saw this cocoon wrap I thought “I want to be a cocoon” and so then I became one. If there is one thing I adore Sole Society for it’s their travel bags. I own more than I care to admit, however, they are perfect for weekends away or carry on bags. I just snagged this beauty and it’s the perfect size for cramming in all of your other travel necessities! Add a comfortable yet stylish pair of flats and vacation is ready for you, girlfriend. These are a new favorite pair that I’ve been wearing on repeat [in snow and all..logical, I know] and I’m obsessed. One side note – I often size down .5 in Sole Society flats so you may want to keep that in mind! So now that our bags are packed, where are we headed and when? I dare somebody to come pick me up and drag me to Hawaii with them asap. Please, I am begging.
