It’s not all that often that I find a dress that’s deemed “work appropriate” due to all of the crazy policies regarding too much leg showing, too little sleeves covering, too much cleavage on display, etc etc blah etc. So, when I find something that is a) long enough b) has sleeves 3) doesn’t show the ladies off left and right and 4) still fits cute and doesn’t make me look 100% Amish, I am all over it. Throw in the fact that it is hand made and BAM, I’ll take two please. Because you know what, you just don’t find em’ homemade anymore people.
What’s even cooler yet, is that the home of this dress,
Mata Traders, is a fair trade clothing and accessory company who designs all of their pieces in Chicago, but then works with women’s cooperatives in India and Nepal to actually make the items. They weave, hand embroider, hand block print, and all sorts of other awesome things that I wouldn’t have the first clue how to do. By supporting their work they are able to provide for their families who may not have much support otherwise. Basically it’s a win/win situation for all because this dress–workplace gold I tell you. You know what’s else gold (technically copper]
this bracelet that I have been staring at for the past who knows how long when I should be writing this post. The next dress on my to purchase list?
This one. Hashtag OMGILOVEIT.
Because the fine people of Mata Traders want you to delight in their items, this dress I’m wearing up above particularly, they are giving one away–that’s right—one of you plus me get to become the twins emoticon. I can’t even contain my excitement. Be sure to check them out on
