Hey sweet thangs…I’m writing you from Influence as we speak.
Don’t worry. I’m that lame girl who is sitting at the computer at 12:30 am while my roomies are all up partying like rock stars. Or sleeping like babies. Whatevs.
Here’s the deal though.
Blog design–it’s important y’all.
And whether you know it or not, it plays a MAJOR role in your blogs longevity/success rate.
Lucky for you, I have my favorite blog designer in the house today.
Seriously. I swear by her. And I don’t even swear.
You may recognize a blog or two that she has designed below 😉
Please read…get your blog pimped out…and then enter to win yourself a suuuuhweeet blog template.
I’m off to party.
Hey all you LIY peeps! I’m Melissa…a 20 something graphic designer who is obsessed with all things creating (whether it be designing, baking or crafting). This past year, I opened my full service Graphic Design shop, Melissa Rose Design. And today, I’m hijacking Erin’s blog to share with you some thoughts about blog design and branding.
If you’re in a hurry, let me fill you in real quick on a few things I design on a daily basis:
You may recognize my name from my personal blog over at 20 Going on 80, where I post Recipes, DIY Ideas, Free Printables, and more. Or I might sound familiar from designing this one blog that you may have seen around blog-land 😉
In addition to working with this one amazeball blogger (her words, not mine), I’ve also had the opportunity to work with some other wondeful bloggers on custom blog designs. Each of which I had so much fun designing!
After working on nearly 50 custom blog designs this past year, I’ve noticed the effects of what a cohesive design can say about a blog. Without a significant change in content, you can grow your blog by presenting yourself in an more professional way.
“Literally within the first twelve hours of having my new design live I jumped up about 20 followers. You’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but nobody ever said you can’t judge a blog by its design.” -Taylor at The Daily Tay
Whether relates to your blog design or your business branding, the look of your brand is everything. Sure, your brother’s best friends girlfriend could whip up a logo for you, but 99% of the time, it’s going to look like your brother’s best friends girlfriend made it. Simple truth.
The good news is that you don’t have to spend a fortune rebranding. You have options. In addition to custom blog design & branding , premade blog templates and premade Etsy Shop Sets are another option if you’re looking to spice up your blog.
So that’s enough of me for today. Thanks to Erin for letting me take over today!
And…last but not least. A little giveaway. Want to win yourself one of my premade blog designs (valued at $50)? Enter below!

Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.

If there’s one thing the LIY Team did this Summer [besides go for boat rides and drink seltzers] – it was read. Audio books, Kindle editions, good old fashion physical copies… you name it, we read it. While we went through a few that weren’t so great, we did find a few worth passing along! […]
