Now, there are a few changes I’d love to make to our new house to make it feel more like ours (paint being one of them) but all will have to wait while we get settled. Moving with two little ones is no joke! In the meantime, I’ve added a few simple items to make it feel more homey in here. Stay tuned as we make more changes!
Darkening Faux Linen Curtains // Curtain Rod
First up: Curtains
A fun trick I’ve learned to make a room feel bigger is instead of hanging your curtains right above the window, hang them closer to the ceiling. This draws the eye upward making the room feel more spacious. As soon as I received these curtains from Wayfair I immediately had to have them hung. They are the perfect combination of cozy and elegant. The quality of the material is nice and thick and blocks out lots of light. I chose the color birch, which is a soft white/cream. It’s amazing how much cozier this room feels now.
Next: Rugs
I love this pattern on our kitchen runner, neutral with a pop of color. Really great quality and easy to vacuum. Plus it hides messes really well. A must with two little ones in the house.
And lastly: PLANTS!
Not only do plants cozy up a space, they also help cleanse the air. This is a snake plant and super low maintenance. If you’re new to house plants or just simply don’t have time to keep up with them like me this plant is a great option. Snake plants are known for their ability to remove toxins and pollutants from the air. Some other plants I have around the house are Golden Pothos, Heartleaf Philodendron, Spider Plant, and a Monstera. All have been super easy to care for. I’ve even propagated several to have more than one around the house. I just feel they bring so much life into a room. And can we talk about how adorable this little plant stand is?! I’m obsessed. It comes in several different colors and is the perfect little home for any plant!
