Lake Day Essentials

June 19, 2023

Erin Schrader

Disclosure: Thank you to Nordstrom Rack and Collective Voice for sponsoring today’s post. All products were selected, purchased, and loved by yours truly!

I’m currently writing this post while watching two ducks float on by, a few boats on the horizon and the sound of the waves gently crashing up on our seawall, all while still wearing my swimsuit I put on at 8 am [it’s currently after 8 pm], a sunburnt face [oops], and the remains of wet hair from my first attempt at wake surfing for the summer. I’m not sure what certifies somebody as a lake day junkie, but I have to be checking off a high number of items on the list.

Now that we’ve been living on the lake for 3 years, there is nothing [that’s a pretty dramatic statement, I am sure I could think of *some* things] better than wasting a day away on the boat, sitting at the end of the pier [book in one hand, drink in another], and/or having friends and family splashing around.

Now that we’re established “lakers”, there are a few things that are imperative to have a great day lake day. I recently hit checkout on a few [err – several] lake day necessities at Nordstrom Rack. They have such a cute selection of summer items that will have you diving in[your cart and lake] at the same time. The best part? They carry a ton of well-known brands at much more affordable prices! If that doesn’t want to make you splash around, I don’t know what will. Free shipping on all orders over $89 and free returns in-store at both Nordstrom Rack and Nordstrom! Now, let’s dive into my must-haves…

First up, you’re going to need a coverup and a cute lil summer hat to block those rays.

Long Sleeve Coverup // Lace-Up Stripe One-Piece Swimsuit [size up if in between, wearing in 8] // Solid Packable Panama Hat

Once things heat up, you know you’ll be droppin’ your top [translation: swimsuit coverup] and will need a swimsuit you feel both comfortable and confident in.

Now that we have the outfit out of the way, can we take a second and pause at how cute this cooler is?! It’s super lightweight and these color combos – gosh, they get me. You’ll be the *coolest* thing at your party [yes, pun intended] with this thing in tow.

Pop Model Portable Cooler

Of course, once you pop your top, you need a place to put your can and while the temps are heating up outside, you need something that will keep your beverage cool all day long. Insert this HydroFlask cooler cup. Bottoms up!

12-Ounce Cooler Cup • Hydro Flask

What’s a lake day without a witty towel!? I love this brand that carries so many fun and colorful beach towels that will make a statement [and keep your seat reserved while you jump in the lake ;)]

Sun Day Fun Day Cotton Beach Towel

Now you may be asking yourself – “but what should I use to carry that cute little towel to my lake day festivities?!” Solid question. Good news my friend, the answer comes in the form of a ridiculously cute [and functional] straw tote.

Colorblock Baseball Cap // Straw Tote

Valeri Slide Sandal • Sam Edelman [true to size]

Now slide into some sandals, slap on your sunnies, and enjoy your day! Kick back, relax, and enjoy that lake day!

54mm Polarized Wayfarer Sunglasses • Ray-Ban
