The most wonderful time of year is here if you’re a Nordy girl like we are, and that means, you guessed it, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here! We did a quick little team getaway to our nearest Nordy’s to try on items on our wishlists in person! The goal of this is to help you see items IRL [or on real internet life] and give you our feedback before you checkout on your own wishlist! While we had big hopes and dreams, unfortunately many oof our wishlist items weren’t. in store, so we’ve placed an online order and will be updating this post continuously as items arrive! In the meantime, you can check out each of our widgets under our sections to see what’s still comin’! ANNIVERSARY SALE SHOPPING TIPS & TRICKS

1. Anything that you love and want for yourself, add to your wish list and check out once the sale is live for your card level [reminder: it starts today [7/14] for Ambassador Nordstrom cardholders and Friday [7/16] for Influencer cardholders and will be open to everybody on July 28th! If it isn’t currently available in your size and color preference, things are always coming in and out of stock, so check back often!
2. Remember that Nordstrom always offers free shipping and free returns! Because of this, I would recommend ordering two sizes on things you are unsure of, to make sure that you can get it at the sale price and return the one that doesn’t work!
3. Some of the items I mention may currently be out of stock, but check back often for restocks! We’ll also be notifying you of restocks over on our Facebook page and #NSALE group [highly recommend joining the group for a ton of helpful info and nightly giveaways!] 
4. Keep in mind that while the sale lasts until 8/9, things go quick so don’t be like N*Sync and have to say “bye, bye, bye” to everything before it’s gone – shop early!

If you’re looking to update your work wear, I would snag this blazer!! So comfortable, chic, a closet staple and can be worn to work or with denim for date night! The only downfall with this jacket is the buttoning, it’s an extra clasp instead of the buttons!

Helllllllo fun leggings!! I’ve had my eye on something similar to this for awhile and after trying the Good American Boss Pant in store [these were a miss] I had high hopes for this Open Edit version! While these are more of a legging, they fit really nice, smoothed out lumps/bumps and the zipper detail is so fun!! It’s a 31” inseam so I threw on a pair of pumps for my 5’2” frame!

This sweater was a borderline miss, but after a quick tuck to give it shape and dressing it up a little, I was sold! It is a boxier fit so if you prefer something with more shape, I would pass on this one!

Several of the girls on the team liked this jacket but for me personally, I felt like an oversized teddy bear [haha]. It is incredibly soft, it just wasn’t for me!

A swing and a miss…. I gave these fun wedge sneakers a try but WHOA were they tight around my ankle and nothing was working to alleviate that. These may be a better option if you’re looking for this style of shoe!

For the price, this wasn’t worth it…. I liked the oversized fit, however it wasn’t that soft and seemed a little pricey for a basic sweatshirt.

Loving this classic turtleneck sweater in the prettiest Rust color for fall! It’s super soft and the material feels like a thick, high-quality material. Size down if in between sizes! This is my normal size medium, but I’m hoping to exchange it for a size smaller.

Treasure & Bond Turtleneck Sweater [Size down if in between, wearing Medium but could have done Small] // Good American Denim [TTS, wearing 6] //  Exact Mule  // Similar Mules

Okay friends, I wanted to put these two sweaters together so you can spot the differences [because it’s a little tricky to tell online]! The Drape Turtleneck has a chunkier collar and thick hem at the sleeve which I LOVE. This one has a much shorter and less full neckline, which is great for anyone who doesn’t like turktleneck styles or often feels “swallowed up”. It’s a pretty basic sweater, but I’m giving it a thumbs up! Again, size down if in between- this is my normal size medium, but I’m hoping to exchange it for a size smaller.

Meet my favorite sweater of the sale [until others arrive, that is 😉 ]! I love the waffle knit and thick, heavy, material. If hot pink isn’t your jam, it’s also available in several other neutral colors. Size down if in between, wearing medium but hoping to exchange for a small!

HIT: Claire’s Tory Burch Bag

Tory Burch Crossbody Bag [Devon Sand]

I’m not afraid to admit this is my THIRD Tory crossbody. I look forward to purchasing this style in the sale each year and now own in black, camel, and Devon Sand. I truly use this bag [in one color or the other] every. Single. Day. They’ve held up great for 2-3 years now, have built-in slots for cards & cash, and fits all the necessities like a cell phone, keys, sunglasses, etc. 

HIT: Claire’s Waterproof Winter Boots

This pair of boots was slightly out of my style comfort zone, but I’m so glad I decided to try them! They’re waterproof and SO comfortable- like walking on clouds, folks. I think they’ll be great for running errands on cold fall/winter days this year. I would say to size up .5 if you’re in between. For reference I’m typically an 8.5-9 and the 8.5’s are a little snug with thick socks!

Another pair of boots that were out of my comfort zone that I’m not regretting. White boots are all over the place this season and I’m here for it! I love that these have a shorter, comfortable heel and will be easy to clean with a magic eraser – unlike suede.

I know there’s some controversy around this sweater this year, but hear me out. While it’s not necessarily “new” – I say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 😉 Introducing the classic, super-soft, Madewell cardi you know and love in pretty neutral tones for fall! Always a N-Sale win in my book.

Loved this one a little more than I expected to! If you’re a fan of the bright colors this season, you’ll love the Vibrant Orange or Rose colors. It is slightly cropped, so beware of that- it worked well with high-waisted jeans for me!

My biggest splurge by far…. But let me tell you, I am IN LOVE with these jeans. The inseam was perfect for me at 5’4! I love love love the hemline with a little fray and some length in the back! It is an adorable silhouette that is kind of like a kick flare crop! I will most definitely wear these all year long! My stylist did mention that these stretch out some so to order a size down if you truly are in between!

Being 5’4, these jeans fit me perfectly even though they are technically a “cropped” style! They were super flattering and gave me great shape! They felt nice on as well! I feel like the darker wash is great for the fall season ahead!

These pants DID NOT work for my figure/frame/height! I had high hopes but these just didn’t work. I am 5’4 and I think they would work best for at least 5’5 and up! They were comfortable and felt like ponte leggings.

These looked like they would be great but when I put them on, there was just too much material making it look almost plastic like! I liked the idea of them, just not how they looked on me!

This top was just giving me too much balloon sleeve and felt like it was swallowing me up a bit. It has more of a shacket feel than a button up!

While this was a fun little number, the sizing was just off. I ended up sizing down because the pants were too loose but by doing so the top was just a little too tight. I am a pear body shape so I just don’t think it worked for me! It was super comfortable and lightweight though!

While I thought this sweater was adorable, it just wasn’t anything special for me! It was pretty cropped and would be best paired with high waisted bottoms. I just thought I wouldn’t get much wear out of it! That being said, I still think it’s so cozy and has that vintage vibe to it!

Stop what you’re doing and add these booties to cart. I absolutely LOVED them as soon as I put them on. Black is pretty limited on sizing, but they also are available in brown, red, and snakeskin! The heel is higher but it doesn’t feel high at all, and is chunky enough that they’re easy to walk in! I have them folded down, but they can be scrunched like in the photo on the Nordstrom site!

Introducing…. My NSale MVP – These ankle strap pumps! They went from the box to my feet for the entire office day, and came back out the following night for dinner and watching our girl Katy play Cha-Cha in a local production of Grease (including walking downtown to the venue). They’re so comfortable for all day wear (thank you 2.25 inch heel!) and the zipper in the back is probably the smoothest I’ve had on shoes making them very easy to get off and on. I’m very seriously considering buying them in another color because I know I will wear them so much. Note – I do find the color in person to be a much deeper red than shown in this pic (you can see a more true color in my outfits below).

My favorite pair of treat yo’self denim is back in a different wash with distressed detail and I couldn’t be happier! Some of the girls on the team introduced me to Good American a few years ago and while I LOVE them, I only own one other pair because $200ish isn’t in my normal range of denim spending – but during the Sale they’re just over $100 and it was time for another pair to slip my legs into.

I didn’t even wait to put these on my feet before I threw away all the packaging, I knew they’d be a hit! I purchased a pair of Sorel Joan of Artic Wedge Booties four years ago and have worn them an embarrassing amount every Winter since. Here’s the kicker, I didn’t buy these to replace that pair, they’re still in great shape! I bought these because they’re my favorite boots for nearly every Fall outfit, and snowy Northern Indiana Winters due to their thick treads and high sides that give a little extra ankle support while being just adorable and going with so many things! This is definitely an item I would still recommend paying full price for – but why do that when you can get them $60 off?

These are a tried and true staple I restock on every year during the Sale. They’re comfortable to Live In, just like the name suggests! Original Writeup: I really love the look and material! I get a little self conscious about the way blazers fit me in general due to my larger chest, but this is a good one out of those I’ve tried! Since I’m not sure how often I’d wear it due to my blazer complex, I’m waiting to see how I like the rest of my items once they arrive to decide if this one is a keeper. BUT – if you are someone who loves wearing blazers, this one is definitely worth a try!

I said it earlier and I’ll say it again- You cannot go wrong with Sorel! Deep treads, waterproof, comfortable. There’s nothing more I look for in a Fall/Winter/Spring boot! I love Chelsea boots because of how easy they are for me to slip on quickly in the morning to run the kids to school and am excited to have another pair of boots in the closet to reach for that I know will last a long time!

UPDATE: Unfortunately after ordering a larger size they’re still too small. I think if you have a narrow foot, these are a great pair, but if you have a wider foot like me, they’re a no go. Original Writeup: I LOVE THESE SHOES!!! The mixed media detail is adorable and adds such a sophisticated touch. The only reason I’m not singing their praises is because I am waiting on a larger size to arrive. Typically I float between sizes 7.5 and 8. I ordered a 7.5 originally and they were way too small. As soon as my size 8 arrives I’ll update the sizing information. Fingers crossed they work!
