3 Valentine’s Day Kits to Create this Year

February 1, 2021

Erin Schrader

Happy First of February, friends! The sweet smell of love is in the air [or maybe that’s just my new Hearth & Hand candle, but that’s beside the point]. Valentine’s Day 2021 is right around the corner… So close I can almost taste the heart shaped candy– Reese’s hearts, I’m looking at you. While nothing says romance quite like V-Day, we get it. Your romantic evening might be looking a little bit different this year. But never fear, LIY is here to keep the flame alive. We put together three Valentine’s Day Kits to make staying home feel extra special: one for the entire family, one for couples, and one for your roommates + gal pals. Most of the items are available via Amazon Prime [so there’s still plenty of time to spice up your weekend plans] or go buck-wild and re-create your own version at home. Whatever your February 14th brings, we’ve got you covered. xoxo

For the Family

We get it, the ideas for a fun family night in are running dry. You can only play so many games, put together so many puzzles, and watch so many movies. But don’t get discouraged just yet. We’ve found themed evenings are a fun way to get the whole fam involved. And in times like these, it’s acceptable [hey, encouraged] to go a little overboard. So go ahead and get a scoreboard for game nights or set up a projector + screen for movie night. And on Valentine’s Day? Make your dinner heart-shaped, obviously. Pizza, pretzels, and pancakes are a few of my personal favorites, but the world [err, menu] is your heart-shaped oyster. If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere warm in February, you’ll find everything you need for an outdoor movie night here— and if you’re not in a warmer climate [shoutout Midwest!] may we suggest setting it up in the basement?

For the Couples

There’s never been a better time for a date night in and there’s no better excuse to go slightly over the top for this one in particular. If by chance you’re staying home and cookin’ up something special, we rounded up a few games, gifts, and activities for you and your sweetheart. Of course, you could get all dolled up in the spirit of the holiday just because [you go girl!], but if you’re anything like me, you’ll take any excuse to not wear a bra. It’s called romance, friends… romance. And nothing screams “romance” quite like matching jammies and a competitive round of couples games. Snuggle up lovers, it’s date night– 2021 edition!

For the Roomies: Galentine’s Edition

February 13th 2021: The year of GNI [Galentine’s Night In, that is]. Grab your roommates or closest gals pals to create the ultimate ladies night- from the comfort of your own home! All you need are the basics– snacks, beverages, games, comfy PJs, and your best girlfriends. Because you deserve to be celebrated and we’ll take any excuse to pop some bubbly. If you’re keeping your distance this year, may we suggest a virtual party? Cheers to good drinks and great friends, ladies!

As much as I love shorts season [aka summer] I sometimes despise the actual “denim shorts season” itself. Shorts can be tricky. Sometimes they are too tight, too short, too loose and the list of all of the discomforts of shorts goes on. Today, we’re here to put some of those discomforts to rest and […]

If there’s one trend I’m happily hopping on board with, it’s the white sneaker rage. Maybe they never went out of style, maybe it’s more socially acceptable than ever to wear tennies with every. single. outfit. Either way, I’m here for it.
