Getting a Little Fresh Air from Home with Backcountry

December 11, 2020

Disclosure: Thank you to Backcountry and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post. All products were selected, purchased and loved by yours truly.

If you’ve followed along for any length of time, you might already know my heart beats for summer days on the lake. But like all good things, those sun-shiney days have come to an end– or an abrupt halt, if you will. Insert: December in Indiana. We’ve officially transitioned from lake life to full-time cabin life [until summer rolls back around] and my inner small-town girl is fully embracing everything life in the country has to offer. My glass is half full, friends. While a lot of the “traditional” winter festivities are off-limits this year, we’re choosing to make the most of this time at home. And one thing that’s been keeping me sane these days? Good old fashion fresh air. Take my word for it; you’d be surprised by the effect a quick stroll outside will have on your mood. So when walking the pups is the highlight of your day [it’s the little things, folks], you better believe we’re dressing the part– with a little help from Backcountry.

If you’re new to shopping Backcountry, you should know that they’re a premium retailer for top outdoors & lifestyle brands with everything from clothing to jackets to shoes to gear. They carry all of your favorite outdoor brands including but not limited to Patagonia, Prana, Mammut, Arc’teryx and more. But hold onto your cute pom-hats, it’s about to get a whole lot better. Right now, December 9 through 20, you can score up to 40% off select styles of Backcountry gear and apparel. If that doesn’t make you jump in your [waterproof, warm, fuzzy] boots I don’t know what will. Did I mention their customer service is out of this world ? Seriously, the best I’ve ever experienced. To make a long story short, there’s no reason why Backcountry shouldn’t be a go-to retailer when giving in to your daily online shopping habits. [PS if you haven’t shopped Backcountry before, they’re giving my readers a discount. Just use code YELLOW15 for 15% off your first purchase at Backcountry.com [exclusions apply]!

If you’re new around these parts, welcome! Allow me to introduce myself [Erin here!] and my crew. The handsome one is my husband, Shawn [sorry, not for sale] and the two fluffy guys are our fur-babies, Max and Ollie. They enjoy long walks to the mailbox with yours truly and visiting with the friendly neighbor horses. I’m tellin’ ya, it’s the little things these days. All jokes aside, the walk down the lane is no joke in December– Midwest winters, I’m looking at you. Shawn and I both tend to opt for down jackets [His & Hers] and in the case, waterproof boots to make the strolls more enjoyable and less frigid.

I’m a firm believer that dressing for the seasons doesn’t have to mean sacrificing style. Exhibit A: this down jacket with removable faux fur trim provides extra-toasty warmth and is cute enough to wear out and about or down the driveway and back. And I’m a sucker for a classic pom beanie [Exhibit B]. This one keeps your noggin warm AND cleverly disguises your third day of dry-shampooed hair. What’s not to love?

Listen up ladies, don’t let the guy in your life go cold this season. Pro Tip: if you dress him warm from head to toe, he’ll have no possible reason to complain about taking out the trash or getting the mail. You can thank me later. For now, scope out this down hooded jacket to keep things steamy and a pair of comfortable sneaks to optimize those long romantic walks [even if they’re down the driveway and back]. 😉 However you’re choosing to get a little fresh air this season [whether you’re hitting the trails or taking a lap around the neighborhood], Backcountry is your one stop shop for dressing the part.
