Vacay On The Brain: 5 Summer Vacation Outfits

July 30, 2020

Disclosure: Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring today’s post. All products were selected, purchased and loved by yours truly.

You know you had a good vacation when you get home and you’re wishing you could leave again. I think we all deserve a little break from the year we’ve had, yes? While traveling is still a little iffy and doesn’t look like it normally would [for us it involved a lot of mask time and a lot of cooking in the condo rather than venturing out and about] there is something wonderful about getting away for a few days. Whether you’re escaping to another state or staying put and enjoying your own backyard, having a day [or seven] of rest and relaxation is exactly what our sanity ordered.

Today I’m teaming up with my all-time favorite retailer, Nordstrom, to talk all things summer / vacation looks. There is no shortage of sun to be had here in Indiana and the temps aren’t dropping anytime soon. If you’re in a similar boat [please say you’re on a boat] then I think you’ll appreciate a few of the outfits here today! Keep in mind that while shopping in-store may not be at the top of your list, Nordstrom always offers free shipping and free returns making shopping in your PJs with a glass of vino in hand the easiest task you’ve ever had to do. If you’re looking for an excuse to leave your house and drive for a minute, you can take advantage of their contactless curbside checkout – simply hit “checkout” online and pick up from your local store! Maybe grab a Starbucks while you’re out, because #worthit. Now, onward to these vacay on the brain looks!

  1. The classic [and bright] off the shoulder dress

Off the Shoulder Dress • Charles Henry  [size down if in between] // Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra • Wacoal // Kyra Circle Crossbody Bag • Nordstrom  // Miller Flip Flop • Tory Burch  [size up .5]

This dress has been a closet favorite for years and I hope it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Whether you rock it with sandals [my go-to shoe of choice] or dress it up with wedges or heels, you’re sure to make a statement no matter the shoe!

2. Shorts + Summer Sweater

Flutter Sleeve Sweater • Halogen  [true to size, wearing in small] // Gidget Denim Cutoff Shorts • KUT from the Kloth  [true to size] // Miller Flip Flop • Tory Burch  [size up .5]

In case you haven’t heard, I’ve got this thing for yellow 😉 Nothing says summer more than a bold short sleeve sweater that is bound to put a smile on anybody’s face. Keep it simple with a pair of easy cut-off shorts and you’re ready to roll.

3. The comfiest pants + tank

Jersey Tank • Chelsea28 [size up if in between] // Gaerwen Casual Ankle Pant • KUT from the Kloth  [true to size] // Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra • Wacoal // Miller Flip Flop • Tory Burch  [size up .5]

Simply add a denim jacket and you’ve got yourself a travel look my friend. Remove said jacket once to your destination and you’ve got yourself a casual beachside dinner look. The look that keeps on giving. Both of these pieces are incredibly comfortable and nice and lightweight for the hot summer months!

4. Floral Fun

Floral Tie Front Tiered Maxi Sundress • Brinker & Eliza  [true to size] // Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra • Wacoal // Shell Wicker Crossbody Bag • Topshop  // Miller Flip Flop • Tory Burch  [size up .5]

Can we just take a minute for this dress?! The minute I spotted it online I fell in love and knew I needed it. For what? Who knows. But I needed it. The colors, the cut, it’s all so fun and if there’s one thing we could all use a little more of this year, it’s fun.

5. A little smocking here, a little smocking there…

Off the Shoulder Smock Detail Maxi Dress • CeCe [true to size] // Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra • Wacoal //Norah Woven Tote • Nordstrom  // Oskar Flat Slide Sandal • Caslon [true to size]

Last but certainly not least, this easy breezy dress that can carry you through several seasons thanks to its classic color and cut. I love the detail of the smocking and the front slit which gives it some “extra” vibes. The world is your oyster for how dressy or casual you want to keep it, but whatever direction you take it I can assure you one thing, you’ll look hot no matter what.

Now who’s ready to “pack their bags” and head to your backyard in your vacay best? I’ll have the wine on ice, you bring the snacks. See you soon.
