Katy here! My Step-Dad is from Charleston and a lot of the family is still there, so I am lucky enough to get to go visit about once a year! It honestly never gets old. Well, the town itself is actually VERY old. One thing that makes Charleston so special is the architecture. You could spend the entire trip strolling the streets, looking at old houses and businesses with your jaw on the floor! So let me just say…if you’ve never been to Charleston, YOU NEED TO GO. You won’t regret it 🙂 If you do, reach out to me and blame me for making you go. 😉

So, What Should You Do in Charleston?

Go Fishing! Reel Time Charters is the true Charleston experience in my opinion! As you can see, you may even have a little Shark encounter.
“If you are looking for a fun-filled day of inshore, nearshore or offshore fishing on the beautiful waters of Charleston, SC, you have found the right spot. Reel Time Charters is owned and operated by a true Charleston native. You will have a wonderful experience while inshore, nearshore, or offshore fishing with us. Whether this is your first time fishing or you are an avid angler, we can customize a trip that fits your needs.” Captain Ben Powers will make sure you have an amazing time whether it’s helping you find the sweet spot for a giant catch or stories of growing up in the area! Plus, he’s my cousin 🙂

Stroll Charleston City Market. There are some amazing finds here!! I love walking through this open air market and just taking in the sights and the sounds of downtown Charleston!

Of course, nothing beats a beach bum day. Head to Folly Beach to soak up the sand and sun!

Where Should I Eat?

The Rooftop Bar at the Venue grab a drink and enjoy an ocean view!

Hyman’s Seafood “The HYMANS have been at the same location for over 126 years. Starting out as a Wholesale dry goods store then changing to HYMANS SEAFOOD in 1987. The HYMANS commitment to guaranteed customer satisfaction is the reason that HYMANS SEAFOOD is now a Charleston landmark.”

167 Raw Oyster Bar They have more than just raw oysters and trust me, you can’t go wrong with anything on this menu. SO GOOD!

The Charleston Grill known for their crab cakes, this is a special dining experience!

Elis Table this place has a classy, elegant atmosphere!

Lost Dog Cafe – the cutest little breakfast spot on Folly Beach!

Rita’s this is also in Folly beach. My Step Dad says you have to get the Tuna Nachos here and I would have to agree with him and add that you should also sip on a Key Lime Pina Colada…one of the best drinks I’ve ever had!

Bowens Island check out this spot for a casual night of great seafood and a beautiful view.

Grace & Grit for a southern brunch!

If you’d like to venture out about 15 minutes from downtown hop on over to Frothy Beard Brewing for a pint and pizza! Another great brewery is Holy City Brewing in North Charleston!

If you can crash an authentic Low-Country boil…that will give you the most authentic Charleston meal you could experience!
