It’s no secret that we’re living in times that can feel anything but joyful. We’re being faced with so many unknowns, fears, anxieties, unanswered questions, and unchartered territory. While we are in the middle of an unprecedented time, I still believe there are ways to infuse some normalcy, routine and dare I even say – joy, into our days. When I sat down to write this, it reminded me so much of the entire being of Living in Yellow and how it was born. Let’s travel a few years back shall we?
Did you know that Living in Yellow started because of a gratitude journal? The year prior to starting LIY, I had gotten into a habit of documenting my daily moments and focusing on the things that made me happy. After 365 days straight of looking for joy and writing about it, I realized I had fallen in love with the practice and wanted to continue doing so in some way. Insert Living in Yellow. A place to document and share my everyday moments that infuse joy and happiness into this life. So why yellow you ask? Because to me, yellow = happy. When I wear it, I instantly feel my mood turn around. I feel more energized, full of life and have an easier time seeing the glass half full, especially when said glass has something delicious waiting for me inside 😉
And so here I am. Living IN yellow, literally and figuratively. Fortunately for me, my love and adoration for wearing the color yellow hasn’t stopped since the blog was born [we’re going to have a real problem if that day ever comes]. All of this to say, when I spotted these new yellow arrivals from Ann Taylor I knew I wanted to give them a try. It turns out they have a huge selection of yellow items that are sparking all sorts of joy in my heart and if there’s one thing I’ve been reminded in this situation we’re facing, it is how important it is to seek out items that spark joy and put a little pep in your step. I love Ann Taylor for high quality, easy to wear [dress ’em up, dress ’em down] pieces and for the sales they offer on occasion! Introducing my two latest living in yellow outfits…
Let’s start with look number one — while I may not be dressing for the office most days I am all about incorporating new arrivals that are perfect for summer right now and if there are two pieces ready for summer, it’s this Lace Trim Ruffle Sleeve Sweater and High Waist Ankle Pant which you could easily style a number of ways over the next few months [how fun would they be with this halter top or gingham flutter sleeve top for work?!] Topped off with a super versatile pair of block heels and I’m ready to roll!
Lace Trim Ruffle Sleeve Sweater [true to size, wearing in small] // The High Waist Ankle Pant [true to size] // Ann Taylor Bonnie Embossed Leather Block Heel Sandals [true to size]
Maybe you prefer to wear yellow on your bottom half [heck, wear it wherever]. If so, these shorts are perfect for summer. They are a comfortable 4-inch inseam with this ruffle waist that adds a fun detail. To keep the party going up top, I added this Circle Lace Trim Top which would be equally as cute with a great pair of denim!
I hope that however you are able to control what you can control in life right now, you’re doing so by being intentional about pursuing the things that bring you joy! Don’t forget to check out Ann Taylor’s newest arrivals for whatever color palette brings out your best side. Whether it’s green, pink or the perfect shade of neutral, they’ve got you covered for summer!
Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
