Honeymoonin’ in Placencia, Belize!

March 25, 2020

Hey all, Cassidy here! My husband and I got married in October 2019 [I wrote a post about it here!] and then traveled to Placencia, Belize for our honeymoon! We had the best time and had to share where we stayed, our favorite places to eat and drink, and favorite activities!

Where To Stay

My lovely husband, Logan, did all the planning for our honeymoon and he picked out the cutest boutique hotel for us to stay called, The Ellysian! We stayed for nearly 10 days, and I am so glad we did [wishing I could go back right about now]! The staff at The Ellysian was absolutely amazing. We truly felt like our family by the time we left–I even exchanged Facebook information with many of the staff to stay in touch! We loved just hanging out with the staff, bartenders, and other guests during our stay–lots of stories and laughs were shared! The Ellysian has it’s own bar, rooftop restaurant and waterfall pool so it really met all of our needs. The staff provided us with purified water everyday, guided us in planning our excursions and also drove us to and from the airport! I could not recommend this boutique more! We felt like royalty there and fun fact: the hotel is actually owned by the First Lady of Belize! The best thing overall is that EVERYTHING is literally walkable, restaurants, bars, all of it! The boardwalk will just take you all around the peninsula!

Where To Eat

My husband and I are both vegan and we were so excited for all of the options Placencia had to offer! Our favorite restaurants and other spots to eat were:
Cha Chi’s: Pizza + Pasta
Wensy’s Creole: The best creole in town, in my opinion
Barefoot Beach Bar: Bar food and beach views
Tipsy Tuna: An awesome bar with live entertainment at times
Rick’s Cafe: Recently renovated with great dinner options
Cozy Corner: Easy eatin’ and cozy vibes
Brewed Awakenings: Fun coffee shop with yummy drinks
Above Grounds Coffee: Great breakfast + coffee
And honestly so more that I am forgetting! The food was AMAZING!

This is one of the first “official” meals that The Ellysian had to offer in their rooftop restaurant–during our stay they were just finishing up the finishing touches and were preparing to open in just a few short weeks!

This restaurant is literally just steps away from our hotel and we went here at least once a day while we were here! We loved getting breakfast here and the occasional burrito–be sure to try the hot sauce!

Our hotel bar also had some yummy apps and snacks for us to enjoy! They were so kind and always provided us with a snack during the afternoon!

What To Do

Like I mentioned, our hotel helped us plan our excursions and we went through Taste Belize Tours! We went on a spice tour [SO much cooler than we were expecting], a chocolate tour [you get to make chocolate yourself straight from the cocoa bean!], visited a waterfall and finally went snorkeling [we got to swim with sharks and sea turtles!].

We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely go back! Have you visited Belize? What was your favorite place to visit?
