By now, you know the ladies of LIY, but now it’s time to introduce you to our other halves. We’re so excited to bring you our first edition of LIY For Your Guy. The men selected items that represent their unique styles, and wrote a bit about why they like each item. They may have been a bit hesitant to put themselves out there like this, so be sure to give ’em some love 😉

Shawn [Erin’s Husband]
Jacket [size up if in between, color is Army Green ] // 1901 Utility Shirt [true to size, color is Blue Mazarine Twill ] // Mavi Jeans [true to size, color is Dark Brushed Williamsburg] // Cole Haan Grand Pro Shoes [true to size, color is Woodbury Hand Stain]
Hi LIY people, I’m Shawn, married to Erin. By day I am an account manager for a local manufacturing company and by night I handle a lot of the behind the scenes business aspect of LIY. Most of my wardrobe is business casual which takes me from my job to dinner at night [or in blogger terms “boardroom to bar”]. Amazon is a very frequent place I shop and I came across this jacket and I thought “for 30 bucks why not try it?” It turns out I had to swap small to medium but otherwise for the price I really like it.
Shirt: Nordstrom is probably my number two place I shop thanks to Erin who turned me on to it. I have a few 1901 items so I felt confident giving this one a shot. It is a slimmer fit and since I’ve gained a little weight it’s a hair snug, otherwise I like it. You can wear it with or without the jacket if you don’t want to drop the 30 bucks for the jacket.
Jeans: I love my Mavi jeans. Mavi, Liverpool and Paige jeans are my go to. I’ve been wearing Mavi jeans for five years and have used my #influencerstatus to turn my brother-in-law, LIY guys and co-workers on to these. They hold up very well, they fit well and they hold their shape after many washes. Oh and they are soft.

Shoes: Love Cole Haans. I have the leather version, the canvas version and multiple colors of each. They fit well, super comfortable right out of the box and have held up very well over the years. I wear them casually with a t-shirt or to dinner with a button-up. If I could only buy one brand of shoes for the rest of time, it would be Cole Haan because you can dress them up or down.
Matt [Becca’s Husband]
Blazer [TTS, wearing 40 R in Black] // Button Down Shirt // Boots [similar] // Jeans
Hi, my name is Matt and I am Becca’s husband. As a financial advisor, I have to dress up often for work events, and this blazer is just the right thing for those business casual conferences and dinners. When I read “jersey” in the product description I thought it might feel too much like a t-shirt, but it’s more of a substantial fabric that still feels lightweight and comfortable.
Blazer [TTS, wearing 40 R in Black] // Tee [TTS, wearing in Grey Magnet]// Boots [similar] // Jeans
I also dressed this blazer down with a t-shirt for a more casual look. I would wear this to church or out to dinner with Becca. I like the slub texture of this tee because I like to wear plain t-shirts, but it adds a little something more than a normal plain tee. It is a little thicker cotton and very comfortable.
Dave [Steph’s Husband]
Sweater [TTS, wearing size large in Gray Tornado Heather] // Shirt [TTS, wearing size large in Navy Iris Dark Check] // Similar Shoe // Reserve Collection Traditional Fit Jeans
Hey everyone, I’m Dave and am married to Steph. I am in management at a local Credit Union and spend my days in meetings, reviewing reports and coaching/encouraging my teams to serve members to the best of their ability. I’m not generally a fan of sweaters as they tend to make me feel uncomfortable and excessively warm while I work. This one, however, was lightweight and loose enough that it was comfortable to wear throughout the day in the office. It also was casual enough to wear with jeans on a casual Friday or out to dinner with friends.
I picked out this shirt because of the flexibility it offered. It’s professional enough to wear with dress pants and a jacket for work, yet casual enough to wear with jeans out with friends. It was also light-weight, which made it comfortable to wear with the Mock Neck Zip Sweater.
Sweater [TTS, wearing size large in Gray Tornado Heather] // Shirt [TTS, wearing size large in Coburn Plaid] // Similar Shoe // Reserve Collection Traditional Fit Jeans
This shirt felt great the moment I tried it on. It’s not as lightweight as some shirts I own, but I feel as though it will keep its shape better over time. I wear this to work with dress pants or with jeans on a date with Steph. I tried it with the sweater, but because of the weight of the shirt would not wear together very long as it would make me feel overly hot and uncomfortable.
Logan C. [Hannah’s Husband]
AE Jeans [TTS] // TShirt [TTS, wearing size XL in Grey]// Shoes [TTS, color is Grey]
My name is Logan and I am Hannah’s husband. I am a police officer and enjoy an active lifestyle at home and at the gym. Since I wear a uniform for my profession, I tend to focus on wearing comfortable clothes when outside of work. I am an athletic build, which makes finding clothes that fit well occasionally difficult. I have been wearing American Eagle Extreme Flex jeans and they fit well and have good stretch. If you were to ask Hannah what one item I have an abundance of, it would definitely be t-shirts. Comfy, basic tees that I can get a lot of wear out of are a go-to. The Goodfellow Target brand t-shirts are true to size, soft and work for an athletic build.
The North Face 1/4 Zip Pullover [TTS, wearing size XL in New Taupe Green] // AE Jeans [TTS] // TShirt [TTS, wearing size XL in Grey]// Shoes [TTS, color is Grey]
The 1/4 zip pull-over is also a bit of a “go-to” for me because it’s easy to wear, dress up or throw on and go. This North Face pull-over is soft and comfortable and isn’t too tight in the shoulders. These Toms sneakers are very comfortable and the light grey color goes with most of my clothes. I prefer casual sneakers because I never want to look “too dressy” if I don’t have to.
Eric [Lauren’s Husband]
Mountain Hardware Long Sleeve Shirt [TTS, wearing size medium in Surplus Green]
Hello, my name is Eric, and I’m Lauren’s husband. I work as a Regional Sales Manager for an RV manufacturer. Office attire is pretty casual, but I will dress up when representing the company at RV shows. I also love spending time outdoors hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling and camping. This is the type of shirt you could wear out on a hike, to grab a couple beers with the guys, or to a casual office setting! It has some mesh inner-linings which keeps it breathable, and you have the option to roll up the sleeves to the elbows or keep them full length. Another bonus is that it has a SPF 50 rating, which is great if you’re going to be outdoors all day! I’m wearing it in a medium, which is my typical shirt size.
Patagonia Fleece Pullover [TTS, wearing in medium, but size up for a looser fit]
I love the Patagonia brand, and wanted to add a fleece sweatshirt into the mix. It’s very warm for being such a lightweight sweatshirt, and without being super bulky which makes it great for travel. The price is right for Patagonia (just over $50!). I’m wearing it in a medium, which is my typical size, and it’s an athletic fit, so maybe size up if you prefer more room.
Logan M. [Cassidy’s Husband]
Patagonia Pants [Size up if in between. Normally 31/30, but wearing 32/30 in Forge Grey] // Patagonia Shirt [TTS, wearing size medium in Navy] // Boots
Hello, I’m Logan and I am recently married to Cassidy! Monday through Friday you can find me at the local recycling facility where I work as the Sustainability Coordinator. These performance Patagonia pants can be dressed up for the office or withstand working in the recycling facility plant. At times, my job requires me to work outside, conducting audits or recycling e-waste [such as TVs, computers, etc.], so I wanted to snag a flannel that would keep me warm without seeming too casual. Patagonia is my go-to brand for quality material that can actually handle the elements!
For your Pinning pleasure…
