Halogen Rib Knit Cardigan [true to size, wearing in XS] // Madewell Stripe V-Neck Tee [true to size, wearing in XS] // Wit & Wisdom Ab-Solution Ankle Skimmer Jeans [size down if in between] // Vince Camuto Kensa Peep Toe Bootie [true to size]
Sweater weather is better weather. There’s just something about a cozy sweater that makes me the happiest little fall leaf on the planet. Not only are they cozy and warm, but sweaters have to be one of the easiest pieces to wear year round. Typically they are a little flowy, cover all of the things you wish could be covered during the summer, don’t require any tricky bra and have I mentioned yet how cozy they are? I feel like the only things I have been buying lately are cardigans and sweaters [I blame you, Nordstrom]. They have an insane amount of adorable sweater options for fall in some delicious colors for the season. Despite the fact that Indiana is pushing 90 degrees still, I can’t stop. While I could recommend nearly every sweater or cardigan that has entered my life recently, I thought it may be fun to share the top 5 must-have sweaters for this fall [in my opinion]. All of which are under $100 with a few under $50! Who’s ready to snuggle up for a minute and get a little cozy together? Grab that coffee and let’s go…

This cardigan you guys. It’s very similar to two of my other Halogen brand cardigans [see this and this] but the colors, oh the colors. There’s just something about a long cardigan that never fails. You can pair these with virtually anything [tees, tanks, button up shirts, etc] and you’re set. When thinking of items to have in your wardrobe that are great for transitional months, both spring and fall, look no further than a long cardigan. If you’re anything like me, you’ll get an obnoxious amount of use out of them.
Next up, my favorite convertible tunic.
Gibson Convertible Neckline Cozy Fleece Tunic [size down if in between, wearing in XS]
I bought this sweater last year and have purchased two more since. This cozy fleece material is so soft and comfortable. The reason it is called a convertible neck tunic is that you can do a couple of different things with it. My go to is the cowl neck just because I am team regular bra come fall, but when worn off the shoulder, as shown above, it makes a completely different sexy statement. Another reason I love these is because the length is perfect. No tugging down needed. Oh and the colors it comes in? Yup, perfection. Do yourself a favor and pick up one or three of these, you won’t be sorry.
Next up is this under $40 staple must-have. Bp. V-Neck Long Sleeve Sweater [size down, wearing in XS and it’s still plenty big!] // Pleione Cotton Twill Military Vest [size down, wearing in petite XS for 5’4]
Again, I bought this last year and bought it in every single color it came out in…it’s that good. Truly the perfect layering sweater. All of those puffy vests you can’t wait to bust out? Put this under em’. All of those scarves that you patiently waiting to wrap around your neck, put it over this. This v-neck sweater is again, super soft and all sorts of versatile. I should mention this – all of the sweaters you see in this post, I do machine wash on delicate and air dry. If you do those two things, you should have no problems!
Alright, moving on to something a little chunkier.. Bp. V-Neck Sweater [size down, wearing in XS] // Bp. Plaid Oblong Scarf
I first bought this in hot pink because well, hot pink, and loved it so much I had to get it in this neutral tan for fall. It’s a great chunky sweater to have on hand as fall continues to fall. A little warmer for all of your late night bonfires and such.
Last but certainly not least, make sure to bring some fun to your sweater weather game. Free People Skyline Thermal Off The Shoulder Tee [size down, wearing in XS] // Free People Intimately Lace Racerback Bralette // photos by tina herschberger photography
This balloon sleeve beauty is the epitome of cuddly. I have been digging these Free People oversized sweaters recently and this one is no exception. It is the perfect sweater to pair with one of those cute little lacy bralettes and just go. This is my go-to easy, breezy look recently.
And that my friends, is a wrap. Side note – it was 90 degrees when shooting this post so yeah, that was fun. If you look closely enough you may just see the puddles of sweat hanging out all over my face. Fall, you’re welcome here anytime.
