I’m not sure what the weather is doing where you live, but in Indiana we have hit the fall jackpot. We’re not used to this thing called “sun” in the cooler months, but shoot – we haven’t seen a gray day in weeks which is unheard of around these parts. While the temps have been better than normal, they are still verging on cold which means one of my favorite things, layers.
I recently discovered the “trend” section on Nordstrom’s website and it’s been my go-to one stop shopping section for all things trendy women’s clothing, shoes, accessories and more. I love that they make it easy to find what is popular and selling well for us ladies. Within a few minutes of browsing I was able to quickly put together this outfit and well, I couldn’t love it more. Add in the fast free shipping and the peace of mind of painless free returns and well, I feel like I never have to leave the house to shop again. If you’re in the need of an outfit [or seven] be sure to check out the trend section, I’m 99.9% positive it won’t let you down.
I’ve never been a huge coat wearer outside of the brutal winter months. Maybe it’s because I don’t really know the appropriate thickness, style, etc of fall coats so rather than search for something that is strictly for outwear purposes, I turn to jackets that I can wear as a part of my outfit. Welcome to the stage beloved faux leather jackets, it’s your time to shine. I purchased this one several months ago in brown and loved it so much I added the black to my closet as well. I would definitely size up one as it is a snugger fit [which is great from a flattering standpoint]. I love that you can dress it up or down and can be worn with any great layering pieces underneath. For being faux leather, it sure could have fooled me as it feels great and looks awesome.
Underneath the jacket I turned to my all-time favorite layering [or stand alone] v-neck sweater. If you haven’t yet added this piece to your closet, you may want to jump on that train and fast. It’s the softest, easiest sweater to wear. I own it in three of the four colors now [just waiting on the red to order next]. I probably wear these way too often [errr, every day] but I can’t get enough. To put the finishing touches on the last of the layered look, I added this colorful print block scarf which is oh so warm and cozy. I love that you can wear this scarf a couple of different ways [see video here] and that you can virtually wear it with ANY color on the planet because well, it has virtually every color on the planet on the scarf.
Last but not least, because it’s not deemed appropriate to go pant less and barefoot in public [I know, such a buzzkill], I turned to a new favorite pair of jeans [seriously so soft and comfortable] and my stylish yet reliable riding boots [wearing in the peltro distressed leather, add these to your wish list, I don’t think you’ll regret it].
And there we have it – a super cute, comfortable and warm outfit for falling all around town. And by “falling” I mean taking in the colored leaves, drinking some type of spiced drink and picking a pumpkin or two along the way. Although falling head first on the cement is probably more up my alley, but whatever. #graceful.
disclosure: thank you to Nordstrom for partnering for today’s post. While I am being compensated for the post, all items were purchased, worn and loved by yours truly.
“I feel like my entire makeup bag is just Tarte products” – actual words from the LIY Team. It’s no secret we’re BIG fans of Tarte Cosmetics around here. Between the trusty concealer we’ve been using for years and the lip balm we’re trying in every single shade, Tarte has become a staple in our […]
