#LIYONADIME – THE BEST BASICS

January 22, 2016

Hey hey party people – tuning in from Utah to get some more practice on this whole blogging thing. I apologize in advance if this post is confusing, contains too many pictures, or just ends abruptly half way through. It’s approximately 3 am and how I am still functioning after walking around in heels for 14 hours today is beyond me, but miracles happen so I’m bringing another edition of #LIYonadime to prove it.
If you missed out on the first installment of this fun little fashion on a dime series, you can peep it here. While I focused on Target finds last week, this week it’s all about the basics baby. It wasn’t until recently that I incorporated great basic pieces into my wardrobe that I now wear almost every day. How one doesn’t have an awesome black and white tank, tee, and long sleeve shirt is beyond me but I never did until I turned 29 so I guess, hey adulthood – I have arrived. For me, I have three things when it comes to these types of purchases:
1. They have to be comfortable – not too tight, not too baggy, not too stiff, but dang soft.
2. They can’t cost a lot of money – they are a freaking t-shirt after all.
3. They better look good alone or layered – versatility is key.
Lets start with my favorite basic tees from Target – under $12. Holler.
tee // black coated pants (less than $15!) and here (less than $13!) // shoes
pants here and here // shoes
tee // pants here and here // shoes similar here and here
pants here and here // shoes similar here and here
So here’s the the thing with tees – they are awesome alone, with a statement necklace, heels or converse. All hail the basic tee. You need those in your life, I’m telling you. Probably in every color.
Now it’s time for what has been my absolute favorite items to wear this winter – the 3/4 layering shirts from Express. They are so fabulous and for under $20, you can’t beat it. I wear these alone or under cardigans and vests. They are truly the perfect fit and so soft.

Last but not least, the infamous layering tank. While my go-to for under everything cami is Nikibiki [seriously, they hold in everything and make my shape a lot more flattering], these layering tanks from Old Navy and Target are awesome for a looser option under open cardigans, vests, kimonos, etc. For under $12, you can’t beat it.

Alright folks, that completes all of my favorite basics for all under $20 [including the pants and some shoes!] I hope you find this series helpful because dang, I know I’m always on the lookout for great items that aren’t insanely priced. I’m just here to save the world, one dollar at a time 😉
Now seriously – I’m going to bed. Good night loves.
