And finally, the closing post to our fun filled Florida vaca. I decided to save the best for last because well, the best was last and because that’s what you are always supposed to do right?
Originally when planning our Florida adventures with our friends we had booked two different hotels – the
Marriott Ocean Pointe Resort on Singer Island and then a different Marriott property on Pompano Beach for the last two nights. Well low and behold, before departure I realized that the brand new
Margaritaville Hollywood Beach resort was going to be open just in time for us to stay at it. I did what any good Buffett loving husband’s wife would do – I secretly booked our last two nights here and canceled the other property without telling a soul. My grand plan was to not say anything until we arrived at the
Margaritaville property instead of Marriott and then be all dramatic with my “suuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrpisssssseeee!!!” but because I suck at all secrets, I told Shawn a few days after I booked the thing. Oops. Fortunately he took a liking to my surprise and we eagerly found our way to paradise. Because it didn’t happen if it wasn’t documented, here we go…I’m off to show a thousand and twelve pictures of our stay along with telling you my honest thoughts on it all.
Lets start with the basics, the resort is located in Hollywood Beach, FL on the boardwalk. This is probably the biggest downfall to the resort as I didn’t really love the area. However, we were going for the resort and the resort my friends didn’t disappoint.
As soon as you walk into the lobby you feel like you are exactly where you should be. It’s fancy while relaxing. Nautical with a touch of class so to speak. The chandelier made of margarita glasses definitely catches your eye first thing along with the giant flip flop [that stepped on a pop top – you’ll get that if you like Jimmy]. There was a variety of different sitting areas which we fully intended playing cards at but failed to do so during our quick stay there unfortunately. We did however make our way to the café on more than several occasions for a bomb bacon and cheese bagel sandwich. Dang that thing was good.
When checking in our room wasn’t quite ready yet so we did what we do best – made our way to the pool to order a cocktail.
They have several different pool areas so I figured I should just show you all of them. The main pool that you see above [and directly below] seemed to be more for adults. It was a lot more chill and had a ton of cabanas available for rent.
One of my favorite things about the property was the color scheme – this aqua color was everywhere and it made me all sorts of happy. I think mostly it made me happy as it provided a beautiful backdrop for our chips, queso and salsa on more than one occasion.
The pool that I felt was a little more for children perhaps was this beautiful baby with the waterfall and water slides. Not saying I wouldn’t totally dominate those water slides given the chance, I just happened to never get the chance apparently.
Last but not least is the infinity pool on the 11th floor that we didn’t really get to experience due to the crazy winds Florida was having while we were there. It’s an awesome spot to hangout if you can with tons of lounge seating everywhere, bar and a great view of the resort and ocean.
And now, for the room. It was a great mix of light, airy, comfy, and lux. The beds were oh so comfy and the bath products were the kind that you secretly steal from the maids carts in the hallway. Act like you haven’t done it either.
There were several dining options at the resort however we chose to eat directly in our lounge chairs around the pool mostly. Why move when you don’t have to, ya know? We did pay a visit to Landshark Bar & Grill for more nachos and margaritas with beer mixed in. YOLO.
And because I obviously don’t have enough photos in this post, here are a few randoms taken all around the property. Before I show the last of these babies off I should say that the people working at this resort were hands down the best ever [and no I am not getting paid to write this]. They made the whole experience so so good.
And that completes our Florida trip in way too many posts, photos and words. Any questions? Ask away. I’m off to daydream about our next getaway…
