Good For The Soul

This weekend couldn’t have come at a better time. You know those times when you can tell you are running on E, feeling burnt out from the business of life and know that if you don’t chill out soon things aren’t going to go well [ie: you start crying while blow drying your hair for no reason at all]? I was almost to that point. Okay so maybe I was at that point [the blow dryer situation totally happened]. I have this “problem” so to speak that we are going to call “packed schedule syndrome”. I like having my calendar full, saying yes to things and trying to get done as much as possible on a limited time frame. Needless to say, when I walked into this three day weekend without one plan actually made, I was estatic. We managed to do as much and as little as we wanted. It was the perfect amount of noise mixed with the perfect amount of quiet. We hosted friends and family on 3 different occasions, never woke up to an alarm, started a book, took the time to wash the windows [SAY WHAT?!], didn’t open my laptop until tonight, ate a ridiculous amount of Summer food, sipped coffee for hours, remained makeup-less for 24 hours, had dirty feet every evening, went on more boat rides than I can count, grilled grilled and grilled some more, got my nails done, reflected on the true meaning of Memorial Day and how grateful I am for those who have served to protect our freedom, took a nap in the sun, created some crazy tan lines, drank several beers, and sat in peace and quiet feeling beyond grateful for this time to just be. 
Here’s a few [a lot] snapshots from the past few days.

And that pretty much sums it up — that smile on my face, I don’t plan on removing it any time soon.
