In looking back at my photos from my recent vacation to Siesta Key, FL I decided one thing and one thing only, it was a dang good vacation. We did everything that we wanted to do which consisted of absolutely nothing. I think we all knew that what we were experiencing was a rarity and one we may not be able to experience for a long while — 7 nights with just girlfriends where your only responsibility for the entire time was to decide what you wanted to eat and see how often you could get away with not having to wear any make-up. Which by the way, we were highly successful at. Here are my sure fire 10 ways I knew it was a great vacation.
1. Our normal 11 am festivities resembled something similar to this.
2. Our normal 6 pm activities looked a lot like this.
3. And our normal 8 pm activities looked something like this. Never in my life have I been able to openly confess my love for Elle Woods and talk in detail about how the world would be such a better place if we all just did what she would do.
4. Our home for the week was much nicer than our normal homes and was equipped with every single thing you would ever need and more. Including but not limited to: a massive toaster, a rainfall water shower head, a TV that looks prettier than your wedding pictures, a kitchen that allows you to cook gourmet macaroni and cheese for your friends [regardless if your phone flew into the pot of boiling milk mid-cook session], a full desk if you were actually foolish enough to work on vacation, and the best beach in the US in your backyard.
We rented this exact condo in case you are interested.
5. The only thing better than laying in the sun was going to happy hour to listen to live music and sing friends in low places at the top of your lungs.
6. The first thing I would see every morning when stepping outside was this.
7. So what if sweat accumulated everywhere? There is an ocean for that. Shower what?
8. When traveling it teaches you to be one thing, resourceful [okay and lazy, but we will stick with resourceful]. Because make-up was meant to be documented we learned to use the car as our photographer. If self timer is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
9. Gin based cucumber and mint cocktails. Enough said.
10. I came home with memories and friends that will last a lifetime. Sappy but true. So thankful for this time away to celebrate these girls and their upcoming marriages [have I mentioned it was me with 4 girls who are all fixin’ to get hitched soon…talk about feeling old..]. Every part of it was fabulous and I wouldn’t have changed any of it for the world. Minus the part where a giant snake was under my chair when laying out. That part I could have went without. Love you ladies.
