I love what I do. Truly, I do. It’s 2:00 pm in the afternoon and I am currently writing this blog post in my swimsuit laying outside in the warm sun listening to Beachin’ radio on Pandora while drinking wine. Moscato to be exact. And I don’t say any of this to sound like an obnoxious self righteous you know what, but to celebrate the fact that we all are given a choice of what we want our everyday’s to look like, and for me–mine looks pretty well dang near what I would choose.
I have always struggled with people who are in jobs who truly dislike everything about it. I should clarify, I don’t struggle with the people themselves but the fact that they are working in something that brings them zero ounces of joy or energy. Because the thing about our jobs is that they consume SO much of our lives and I for one don’t have the patience to spend the majority of my life doing something that I don’t find pleasure in. And so I have made choices to ensure that I don’t. This is not to say everyday is rainbows and full of loads of money [ha, #iwish] or that I always have the motivation/creativity/whatever it is required that day to get the job done, but for the most part I can look everyday in the face and feel excited about what’s on the agenda. That my friends is worth celebrating. And while I am now maintaining three different jobs [working at the credit union, blogging, and working as a project manager for Pollinate Media] which can lead to all sorts of stress away being rolled on my wrists [total side note, remind me to write a post on how I use essential oils in my everyday life], I love the variety it all brings. It may not be the conventional thing(s) to do or how I would have ever pictured my life/career to turn out, but I am so grateful for the daily decisions that have brought me to this point, regardless of the many blank stares I receive when somebody asks what I do for a living and I respond back with “blogging and things to do with it”.
